Stamping on walls
 

I have a customer who wants to stamp on her walls. I have heard different things about using our craft inks on walls. What has been your experience with stamping on walls? Did you use SU craft inks or other paints? How did you make your own "ink" pad?? (felt, sponge, other??) I've read great replys to other technique questions so I thought I'd put this one out there to you.

I stamped my daughter's room using foam alphabet stamps. I used acrylic paint. I used a foam brush to brush the paint on the stamp and just stamped right to the wall. if necessary, you can wipe the paint off the wall if you make a mistake. You just need to make sure to wash the stamps so that the paint doesn't dry on them. It worked really well. Everyone who sees it likes it.

I just finished my new "stampin" room in DD Bloomin Wonderul. I used Acrylic Paint and put it on a paper plate, covered that up with a piece of felt and that was my stamp pad. I put masking tape all around my stamp. I wish I knew how to upload a picture of it and I would, but haven't gotten that far. I had a lot of help from this website as far as how to's!

I have tried using a foam brush and using felt. IMO, using the felt is much easier and less time consuming. I used foam plates, squeezed some acrylic paint in the middle, and placed a felt square on top. Viola. My own homemade "ink pad." If I had to walk away for a minute, I just covered my plate to keep my "ink pad" from drying out. I also kept my stamp moist by resting it on a damp paper towel . Definitely put masking tape on the wood block to protect it. Keep baby wipes handy because if you mess up you can wipe it right off immediately. When I was all done, I just scrubbed my stamps off with a dish brush. Since I didn't allow the paint to dry on the rubber it all scrubbed right off. I have stamped both a two door storage pantry and my mother's kitchen. I was a bit nervous, but I planned things out on paper first, and the end result was beautiful!

The Stampin' Up! website says to use acrylic paint on walls--not craft ink. I think I 've heard that the problem is when you repaint the walls, the craft ink causes the same problems as trying to paint latex over oil.

I used the Acrylic paint and put some on a paper plate then brush it on the stamp. I like this way the best cause I can mix and blend colors to make them darker or lighter if I want too.

Has anyone used a wheel with stamping on the walls? How did that work for you? WHat did you use to get a good continual color? Thanks for your help.
