Stamping on walls?
Has anyone stamped on walls before? I was hoping someone can give me some tips. I've been trying (with acrylic paint and sponging the paint onto the stamp), but the image comes out all splotchy.

First.....what stamps are you using (bold or line art?). I used a bold stamp set on my walls and although it's not a 'perfect' image, I like it....that's why they call it art. I used acrylic paint, a foam brush and brushed the paint onto the image. It could be the texture of your walls....none of them are perfect. I have also heard of people using regular latex wall paint, but I can't comment on that as I've never done it that way. HTH

I used large, decorative foam stamps on our bathroom walls at our old house. Acrylic paint brayered onto the stamps seemed to work.

You'll get excellent images...clear as a bell, in fact, if you apply the paint to the stamp with a rubber brayer. Haven't any idea who thought up that technique of patting the paint on the stamp with a foam brush (or sponge)...absolutely no way that could leave an even layer of paint o a stamp. An uneven layer of ink on the stamp results in an uneven and blotchy print.
Easiest paint to use is an acrylic craft paint (Delta, Plaid, DecoArt brands). Shake the bottle, then pour a small amount into a smooth plastic plate. Roll the brayer back and forth through the paint until the surface of the brayer has a thin, even coat of paint. Roll the brayer over the stamp and stamp. Have a couple of damp kitchen sponges handy. Roll the brayer over the sponge to remove the paint before it dries; place the stamp, ink side down, on the sponge between uses. If the paint should dry on either the stamp or brayer, KissOff will remove it.
It's best to do a couple of test prints before you tackle the walls...tape some card stock to the wall to use as a test area.

I just stamped a border in my husband's new hunting/trophy room using the DD Pines set like they did it in the catalog a few years ago...turned out great. I used acrylic paint and a foam paintbrush...Keri
