Stamping on tile
 

I have seen different suggestions for stamping on tile (both tumbled and glossy) and I would like to know which method is best. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!

:D I have had the best luck with the tumbled unfinished tiles (from Home Depot 9 tiles for $5.98) Make sure you wipe the tiles off good if any of the dust is on them the ink will not stick. I use Stazon ink to stamp the image, heat set the image let cool then color with Fabrico markers heat set between colors, when done put in oven and bake at 350 for 10 mintues. After they cool spray the back with sealer and put on felt or cork feet. This is easy and works great I learned this at a stamp store in Yorktown Va. called In A Tizzy. I hope this helps I really enjoy making these, I did a class Saturday night and we all had fun doing them.

I have also used those tumbled marble tiles. I like to stamp a background in dye ink because it bleeds and softens the image. Then, i stamp my main image with Staz-On. I don't bake them. I just seal them with a triple-thick sealer and put felt on the bottom.

:?: If you seal the top of the tiles and you use them does the water from the glass puddle and run on the table top ? I seal the back and the water goes in the tile and not on my table. I have heard alot of people say they seal the top and have puddle trouble. Thats just my 2 cents.

and I use the stayzon for the back (I love the look of the stipple hydranga) and then I use chalks to soften the black image up with some color. Bring them outside to spray (PEWWWW!) with the sealer. I don't really find a puddling problem!

Good idea to wipe off the dust from the marble. The other type of tiles (the ceramic matte finish) are great for use with the craft pads. Use your heat tool to set the craft ink (to dry it) and then use your versamark pad and UTEE to coat. You can sponge the background with the craft pad to change the color of the tiles. It takes a while to heat the UTEE to get it coated, so line a cookie sheet with foil and bake in a 325 degree oven for about 5-7 minutes. Let cool and utee/versamark the parts that need filling in (sometimes you miss a spot). Hope this helps!

Another place I've had good luck finding tiles at was HOOD's. I got the for 2 cents a piece! I don't know if HOOD's is everywhere...but for those in the St. Louis, Missouri area this would be the place to go. I haven't had problems with the image running, however a friend of mine used the tile I gave her and when she wiped the tile off with a warm rag the image came off. When I tried it at home, it didn't happen to me. Good luck!
