stamping on candles-HELP
Hi girls,
Hope everyone is having a great summer!!! Can anyone help with with instructions on stamping on candles? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Splitcoast is the best and you girls are ALL so creative and talented. My sister is a SU demonstrator and is trying to convince me to become one as well. Should I go for it? Feel mfree to give me any advise. Thanks so much, mea |
Go for it MEA!! Being a demo is a blast!!! :D I have never stamped on candles though-so I can't wait to see the replies! Something new for me to learn!!! L LOVE this site too-it is soooo awesome!! :D

I use versamark pad to stamp on white tissue paper or tissue paper that matches your candle. Then heat emboss the image. Then I trim the image very close - not leaving a lot of paper. I then lay it on the candle - maybe use a dab of 2 way glue so it doesn't move around and then using my heat gun, just heat the candle until the tissue paper is absorbed by the hot wax. Does that make sense? Anyway, that is a method I use.

Thanks!!
Hi girls,
Thank-you so much for all the instructions!!! I am definitely considering becoming a demonstrator. You guys are awesome! I need all the encourgement I can get. Have a great night. Mea :D |
I've found that certain candles work better than others. I noticed the cheaper the candle the better it works. Not usre what the reasoning is. After I palce my stamped tissue paper, I wrap the candle with waxed paper. I'm sure the links listed above will give you sufficent help.

I think the higher the melt point on the candle the easier it is because you have longer to work before it starts to melt too much. Cheaper candles tend to have higher melt points.
Partylite candles work the best for this technique I think but they are expensive so I only use those for people I really, really like. Or people who give me chocolate. I did 100 votives last weekend and am doing another 90 this weekend and my big tip is that if you are doing a lot of these wear an oven mitt. |
I really like the cheep ones. I get these votives that are alittle bigger at General Dollar .50 ea & the big ones from the Dollar Tree. Everyone ooos & ahhhs.
FYI--2 of the votives from GD will fit into the small gable box & make great gifts! |
I stamp directly on the tissue paper and then color in with dry pastels if needed. I then trim close to the image and lay a sheet of wax paper over the top of it. As soon as your image appears "slick" and bright under the paper it will melt in.
This is so fun and is amazing! I tried Peal ex in place of the pastels, but that just stuck to the wax paper. The beauty of it is that you can just peel off the tissue paper if you don't like the way it turns out. I use .99 candles that I find at Ikea, they are beatiful and work just great. I need to photo some and post. |
