Spring card tutorials

Many people have asked me about the square spring cards I have created so I wrote a tutorial showing how to fold and crease the cardstock. I am very honored to have had my tutorial added to the resources section as well as having it highlighted as a weekly challenge. You can view the tutorial here

librarian - if you right click on the file name, then selects "open in new window", it should pop up. That's how I open them anyway.

I checked out your "What's up at your end?" aka "What's up chicken butt?" card. Very cute. Love your sense of humor. Are this spring cards meant to stay sprung or do they fold down into an envelope? Thanks. Sheri

sheroop1 02-13-2008 05:57 PM

Hi "Shulsart",

I'm very much a newbie. Thanks for the tutorial. I can't wait to try it. Love your photo cards, very artistic & painterly.

I guess I didn't reply to "Troopersma" correctly, but my first reply was directed towards her. Haven't quite got the hang of this yet. I'm still curious about the springing action. Will it pop back up if put in an envelope?

Thanks again.

shulsart 02-14-2008 04:30 AM

Spring action

Yes, it will pop up when you pull it out of the envelope but after it has sat in an envelope for an extended time, it tends to want to stay flat. Thanks to all for the nice comments on my work and I am glad you are finding the instructions useful.

tjcuetara 02-14-2008 04:41 AM

chrisd99 05-05-2008 02:51 PM

Thank you so much for sharing this template. I've managed to make a card from it and was so pleased with the result.

jimandbeth1 05-05-2008 10:57 PM

YA know, I have done some of these cards before I saw the tutorial you did (which was well done) but I never understood why it was called a spring card cause mine just dont "spring". After reading your tutorial and the posts here, I now know I was creasing way too hard so that everthing lay flat. I was having one of those *duh* moments. Thank you for sharing this!!

sodell 05-16-2008 06:26 PM

where to find Copic?

Your work is absolutey beautiful! I am fairly new to SCS and have had a ball visiting everyone's blogs and admiring all the wonderful wonderful samples.

This is where I first heard of Copic markers, and I did look at their website.
However, the different types and all the color values totally confused me, much less where to buy them. What type do you reccommend and not sure if you can do this, but can you pass on any help on where to buy them?

Thank you very very much

maggiemac 05-19-2008 05:32 AM

Hi, I am new here. Thank you for the great tutorial. I am looking forward to making some cards. I managed to open the pdf by saving it first.

Your gallery is fantastic what a great talent you have.

sandyrae 07-12-2008 05:15 AM

Is there a gallery for everyones spring cards?

shulsart 07-13-2008 04:31 AM

Spring Card gallery

Yes, since my spring card tutorial was the Technique Spotlight for July:

http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/...s/spring_card/

a lot of people have tried the card and come up with some fabulous creations. You can see them here:

I have seen the Spring fold cards in the galleries. Thanks for the tutorial. Sandy, your cards are lovely! :-D

I'll have to give some thought to this challenge before I dive in. Hopefully, I'll come up with inspirations and have time to make a card today.
