smacking acetate (altered)

What is smacking acetate? It sounds a little naughty. Is there a regular
smacking of acetate AND an altered version of smacking acetate? A
little help here, please.

Smackin' Accetate is when you take a window sheet or the plastic sheets used on an overhead projector and colour splotches on it with your markers. Don't let the colours touch. Then you spray with water or rubbing alcohol, I prefer the alcohol, and the colours bleed together and then you smack your glossy cardstock on the accetate and pull it off fast. The alcohol dries fast, the water doesn't. Somewhere there are instructions on this site and if you do a search in the gallery you will find all kinds of great samples.

This is an example of this technique..............we did this at a camp I had recently to show this easy, fun way to make an interesting background.

supplies: window sheets or transparancies, glossy paper, markers, water bottle w/mist setting, brayer (to squish out the air pockets).

directions: scribble with markers on acetate, spritz lightly (from about a foot above) with water, let mingle a second or two, lay glossy paper face down, cover w/paper or another piece of acetate, brayer over gently to remove air pockets and transfer colors, lift paper off acetate, let dry (dries really quick), stamp images over background.

just FYI, I've done it with regular white CS too, not just glossy, and it works great!!

This is the link to it:
