Shaving cream help

Hi everyone. How do I get rid of the shaving cream smell after making marbled background paper with it? I've searched everywhere for a suggestion but keep coming up short.

Thank you for your help!

I'm not sure that you can, to be honest. I can usually smell it off the page for a few weeks after, but I think over a LONG period of time it fades totally.

Ohhhh I know the answer to this...sort of. It stops smelling in less than 2 years and 4 months :D i just had a hunt through my stash (a sealed plastic tub) and found an A4 sheet that I did in Nov 2017, and I can't smell a thing.

Thank you. I'm was thinking of layering the paper with some fabric softener sheets but then they will smell just like that:)
Maybe if I tuck them in some towels for a while that will help.

Is there unscented shaving cream?

Yes, there is! and it works a treat.

I will have to look for unscented cream. That's what I thought mine was but it's regular.

How about putting it in a plastic box with some activated charcoal to absorb smell or bread ends if you don’t have. Leave it at least overnight preferably 24 hours then check.

I actually take a different approach. I use an off brand that has a peach fragrance. I love the scent added to my cards!

I like it too - reminds me of my dad. :)

pixordia 03-24-2020 12:58 PM

That’s another thing my hubby borrowed from the craft room. Lol

These are some great suggestions. I thank you all!
I'm going to have to look for that peach scented one:)

How about putting some baking soda in a ziplock bag with the card and letting it sit for a little bit?

Sargentstripe,

Out of curiosity, how well did this work?

I left my papers sit in backing soda for weeks and they still smelled like shaving cream. Hung them outside in the sun for two day....still smelled.
I ended up discarding them as the smell was too potent.

Oh, that's too bad! I was really hoping it would have worked for you.

I'm going to look for some ladies scented shaving cream to use instead.

Paper Junky 05-12-2020 07:21 AM

What brand had you tried?

I used men's Gillette Regular. Going to look for some Lady's Pure Silk in any scent but mint:)
