Shaving Cream?

I have seen cards that use the shaving cream technique for the background and I thought they looked great. How do you do it?

Hey, Deb, go to the resources at the top of the page. Beate-sounds-like-Miata has a tutorial there, I think. If not, just do a search of the galleries for "shaving cream" and you'll find lots, mostly with links to instructions.

I gave instructions on page 3 of the comments. Your basic supplies are shaving cream, reinkers, paper plate, plastic knife, old credit card or similar scraper, tons of paper towels. I've used glossy cardstock, but I know others use US white or even shimmer white. It's really fun. We did it in my club last night.

I just did a huge demonstration on the shaving cream technique. It's very simple.

Here's what you need:

Shaving Cream (make sure it's one you really like the smell of)
Classic re-inkers
Large embossing tray or cookie sheet
Stylus or plastic knife (for swirling)
Plastic Credit Card (I use my grocery club card)
Your choice of card stock (I've used glossy, US white, Silver, Bliss Blue, Pretty in Pink, the options are open.)
Paper Towels

First fill one side of your try with shaving cream. Use the credit card to smooth it out a little leaving some peaks in it. Drop several drops of one or two of your favorite colors onto the cream randomly. Swirl it a little with the stylus to give it some whooshes. Lay your CS face down on the shaving cream and press it in just a little. Then, pull it up by the corner and lay it face up on the empty side of your try. Using your credit card, scrape off all of the shaving cream to reveal your design. The more times you do it (using different pieces of CS) the prettier they become.
