Shaker card HELP!
I have been trying and trying to make a shaker card and nothing is working. I have watched you tube tutorials, tried everything I can think of and the things inside just won't shake. Its like they are getting stuck to the mounting tape (or I even used fun foam).
Any ideas that I haven't thought of yet? Desparate, Sherri |
Rub your static pouch around the opening, including the edges, before adding your shakers.
|
If you dont have a static pouch just use a little bit of Baby powder or corn flour on your finger and run along the inside edge that is sticky and doesnt need to be. Just not too much and dont get on top or will prevent the final stick down of the back panel.
|
Definitely sound like static is your problem. One other thought, probably daft, but I'll ask anyway, :). Is what you are using in the shaker box smaller than the depth of the shaker box?
|
If your shaker box is not very deep, have you tried using a double layer of foam tape or fun foam?

Shake it pouches
Hello, I find it easier to purchase the IO (impression obsession) shake it pouches. They come in various shapes. I've only used the large circle shape and love them. Hope this helps.
|
For those of you that have success making shaker cards, what brand of acetate do you use? I purchased some at our office supply store and it doesn't matter what I do to it, it still has A LOT of static to it.
I like to make the shaped shakers such as stars, balloons, hearts so the pouches really aren't a good alternative for me. Not sure if the heat-sealed option would work well either. Suggestions??? Thanks in advance! |
Shaker pouches
Hello, I haven't tried using acetate yet. However, I have heard that sheet protectors work well. To avoid static you could rub it with dryer sheets. You should check out youtube videos and type in shaker cards in the search bar. You can also look up the new fuse tool. I heard it's great for making shakers. Hope that helps.

I finally decided shaker cards are not for me. Not worth stressing over it so I just don't do them. lol

The fuse tool is a GAME CHANGER!! I bought one and I literally made a shaker card in 15 MINUTES. This is life changing!!!
|
Can you tell me more about the fuse tool? What type of material do you use to fuse together? I saw this product and was worried when fusing the two sheets together the "packet" would be too flat to allow the shaker elements to move.

We R Memory Keepers Fuse with Ultimate Accessory Bundle and Card Kit | HSN I was concerned they weren't going to carry any more items to support it, and they assured me it was only this particular configuration they were clearing out. She said it was very popular and a new item by WRMK. So, guess it will be around for a while. It's very easy to use, and as someone new to making shaker cards, it takes the fear out of it!!! So simple!! There are a number of videos you can watch to see how it works. Good luck!! |
Like others have said, getting rid of any static and making sure your foam gives enough height for the pieces to move around is pretty much all you can do. I've looked into getting the fuse tool too because it does seem to make the shaker cards take much less time. I try to not buy every new tool that's out though so I may try to find a way to use my heat stylus tool for encaustics to do it. It doesn't have that roller on the end of it but I may just be able to poke my way along. I have tons of unused page protectors from my scrapbooking days that need to be repurposed anyways!
|
Got the fuse tool and won't go back to the old way! Made one in five minutes, just the pouch, not the whole card, but I will now be making more shaker cards than ever!
|
Forgot to say I use page protectors....pack of 20 at Walmart for 88!
|
Check out Goodwill and Savers. Have found boxes of acetate sheets for pennies. 👍
|
I don't know if the fuse tool works on acetate. Never tried it.
