I'm trying to color my loads of love truck and make it look nice. The catty example is nice, but I can't get mine to look like that. They end up all streaky and amateur looking. I've tried using chalk w/ blender pens, and classic pads w/ blender pens...and the same result. Yuck! Any suggestions?
I haven't tried those yet. I haven't got any. They're on my list of stuff I NEED. I'll see if anyone in my group has some I could try. Thanks for the advice.
I like the aqua painters, too. I try them with pencils, chalk and ink pad to see if one of them gives you the look you like. I use them with the ink pads a lot!

Thanks for all the tips...I haven't tried the watercolor pencils yet, but a soon as I get my inky little hands on them I will! Was up LATE last night in the Scrap and Stamp Shack, I think I have a rubber stamp hangover. So here I am...checking out what's new six hours later! Argh! I think I have a problem. I did try again with my blender pens and classic ink last night. I REALLY took my time and got a decent image. Still...must try new ideas. Thanks all!
start light first. Then take your blender pen and just touch the tip of your marker or ink pad and then color. You can always put on another layer, but this starts you out subtle, not harsh. hth;)
Watercolor Crayons with aqua painters would be my suggestion! They are AWESOME!!! Just dip the AP brush onto the crayon tip & apply it to you image. HAVE FUN!
don't know if anyone has tried this yet (or if this is the hard way to do it...) but I absolutely LOVE using the Versa Marker (the pen) and then using the pastels... it looks like watercolor when done and is VERY even. I'm a newbie and haven't saved up for the crayons or watercolors yet so this is how I've been getting by. Try it and let me know what you think!
I love my water color pencils and aqua painter. I was going to try the color pencils and gamsol, but the water color technique turns out so nice and there is no smell.
i always use watercolors pens. i use LePlume II or the SU markers. there is an example of this in my gallery if you want to see if you like the looks of the pens.
I have had good luck with the aquapainter. Use just little blobs of ink from the lid of the stamp pad and not too much water. Or put some blobs of ink on an old free CD. Then you can mix colors without messing up the inkpad.

I have never tried this but I've got the versamark and pen and the pastels. can't wait to try it! thanks for the idea!
Twinkling H20s are a watercolor that sparkle because they have mica in them. They are very easy to use, just dip a went paint brush in the little pot of color and paint away. I love them for any project that needs a little sparkle. They sell them at most stamp stores, and on-line at most stamp sites like addictedtorubberstamps.com. They are made by Luminarte, and they have a website too. I found it works best if you emboss your image before you paint it, because it helps you stay in the lines. You can also paint directly on your stamp and then stamp the image, and that gives you a beautiful watercolor image (nice with flowers). Have fun!
OOOOh Twinkling H2O's! They sound really cool! Another thing to add to my shopping list. None of my close scrapper friends are stampers so I've never even heard of a lot of the products out there. Only really familiar with SU. Thanks! My laundry is calling...I gotta go :(
thanks stamp_momma! I hope you guys like the technique as much as I do, I don't know if I will even get watercolor pencils I like the way it turns out so much.
I find the best results for me have been using the watercolor pencils with the blender pens, or the versamark pad and pen with different embossing powders depending on the look you are going for. I have heard wonderful things about the crayons but haven't had the chance to try them myself. Best of luck!

I LOVE TWINKLING H20s. They're by LuminArte. Website www.imaginearte.com, phone; 866-229-1544. I have 36 and there are over 100 colors. Unfortunately, they're a bit pricy...never seen them for less that 18.99 in packages of 6 called kits or larger kits of 12. They're non-toxic (yeah! and acid-free. Each color is different than the next one. Here's some
names...pink grapefruit, french lilac Guatamalan green, honey amber, oyster (this is the one recommended to be mixed with other colors to lighten or shade). Just start with a basic kit to see if you love them. They are a different breed from pencils, chalk or watercolor crayons. But I agree, they work great on the trucks.
Erica (who honestly doesn't work for LuminArte, but wishes she did.)
I have seen gamsol mentioned several times in other threads and in this one. Someone asked what is gamsol and no one answered. I am very new to this and would also like to know what it is.
