Default A Ribbon Question only a Newbie could ask

Please pardonay moi for this really, really basic question regarding adding ribbons on cards.

Here goes - when you have a card scored at the top, and you add a ribbon going around the top of the card, do you actually tie the ribbon all the way around the front cover? So that when you open the card, you see the ribbon in the inside cover? Or do you cut the ribbon at the ends so it doesn't show inside the cover? And if you do tie it all around, what adhesive do you use so it appears natural (especially on sheer ribbons)?

Thanks for your help! I love this site!

Anya

I've usually tie the ribbon all the way around the front cover. That way the person reading the message is reminded that yeah I made it for them while they read the message inside. :0) I have cut the ribbon off too. It doesn't look that bad. It's really just up to you and how much ribbon you have to work with. HTH!

If I cut it off, it always goes under a layer of paper, I don't like raw edges. I do run it around inside sometimes and then just tie it tight, no adhesive, unless it is under the bow to hold it in place. HTH

Thank you for your replies! One more question - if you don't use adhesive, how do you balance tying the ribbon tight enough so it doesn't fall down without "squeezing" the card cover at the edges?

Practice, that's probably why I usually run them under layers.

Hey Anya! I have done both methods but normally just tie the ribbon with it showing in the inside. I use glue dots to make sure the ribbon stays in place!

HTH!

The best ribbon adhesive is from Strano Designs, iit's called Ribbon Stiff. It dries like cement!
