Saran Wrap Technique
Good Morning....I'm new to stamping and to split coast stampers.....I read somewhere that someone used saran wrap as a technique.....can anyone tell me how to do this?
Thanks in Advance Chrissy |
The saran wrap technique I know is as follows:
Wad up a piece of saran wrap. Rub it or dab it onto your dye ink pad and then dab it onto your light colored card stock. Do this with three or four coordinating colors to make a nice background. Stamp over it with black ink and color with markers or stamp over it with darker colors. You can also do this on glossy paper, make the last "color" you use white Lumiere and you will have a great mother of pearl look. Have fun! |
Thanks so much!!

This is a saran wrap technique that I did. This card was published in the February issue of Cards N Things. The technique is from the Technique Junkie newsletter and is called Cling and Scrunch.

I've used cling on many backgrounds over the years. Start with glossy paper and apply a layer of dye ink with a brayer. I love to use rainbow dye inkpads. Wet the image with a fine mist spritzer and put a layer of scrunched up cling wrap over the piece of paper. Allow it to dry and then pull off the cling wrap. You get a different look every time!
I've also used cling wrap with my bold images. Ink the image up with pigment ink and then remove some of the color with a wad of scrunched up cling wrap. I'm sure this method would also work with other inks, but the pigment inks seem to hold the texture best & give the most dramatic results. |
We have a tutorial in the resource section called Crinkled chalk. It is the Saran Wrap technique, only with chalk inks. You can regular inks instead.

Cling wrap with embossing powder
At an SU workshop I went to, the demonstrator had us stamp floral images on glossy stock with versamark and then heat emboss with white powder. We followed up with using wadded up saran wrap and 3 colors of ink (one at a time) all over the background. I think we used 2 different shades of pink with Summer Sun. The embossed flowers popped through and resisted the color. The effect was spectacular! And it was SO easy.

You can also get a similar effect with wax paper wadded up, we tried it at an upline SU meeting. Looks cool on glossy paper.
