Default Santa fur--what to use?

I'm working on Christmas cards. I've decided I want to use a stamped Santa image.

What can be used to make the fur on Santa's hat fluffy?

TIA,
Ginger

I haven't used the "Flower Soft" before. So I'm looking into what I would need to get!

Any recommendations on where to purchase these supplies?

TIA-
Ginger

What about fun flock? It's soft and can be billowy looking. There's also the liquid applique stuff too. That smashes down though when you send the card through the mail.

I've used flower soft, fun flock, the liquid applique stuff, and I used my coffee grinder to grind up scrap white cardstock to make my own fun flock. They all work great. I've also bought the little 1/4" pompoms from the dollar store - there were about 100 in a little bag - and glued them on. There's lots of options.

Ohhh, I hadn't thought about a pom pom! Maybe that would work for the tassel.

Thanks much!

I've used Tulip brand Snow (dimensional fabric paint) and you can also add glitter when wet.

Crafts, Hobbies & Fabric Crafts, Fabric Paints, Markers & Accessories, Fabric Paints | Shop Hobby Lobby

You can get it matte, slick, puffy, etc.

You can make a 'mock' white flower soft by rubbing 2 white Styrofoam pieces (the balls are a good texture) together so they give you snow. Glue that on. Cheap and easy even has a little shimmer to it.

could use felt or white fleece or could also you faux fur (comes on ribbon spool) or check in the fabric dept for fabrics /remnants. Check the knitting yarn dept and see what is availbale
If you're planning on mailing these you may want to reconsider not using a pom pom and just cut a flat circle from white felt or the fleece

I got some fur trim in the trim & ribbon department & cut it to fit. Also at JoAnn Fabrics in the scrapbook paper they have velvet paper in several colors. I found white & cut it in my Big Shot for Santa parts in a die.

Default Faux flower soft

I did this a few months ago but I put the shredded styrofoam in a small baggie with the reinker to color it, used what I needed and stored the rest in the same baggie. Worked great.

Ginger--one year I used up all my white flower soft and was in a pinch....so I took some styrofoam...put it in the blender--put it on "mulch setting"...and Wha Lah...instant Santa snow white chinny-chin-chin! Works like magic, easy to glue and you can wash it right out of your blender!

I did a post on comparing faux flower soft with the real stuff about 2 1/2 years ago. You can take a look at the post here to see if you can tell the difference between the two: Cat Scrap Fever: Can You Tell the Difference?

I picked up some long glitter at the dollar store in white. It looks pretty good if I do say so myself and adds lots of bling to Santy's beard too.

Mix together gel medium and white ink to make dimensional ink/paint. You can even add glitter before painting onto your card. Pigment inks create a more opaque look but are not a have to for painting white on white if dye reinker is all you have. Many plain PVC glues work as well as long as they dry clear with no color that would alter your new "ink/paint".

Here is a link to a card in my gallery using reinkers and gel medium for the water, including white caps: Under_the_Sea_ATC_swap_by_stampin_stacy by stampin stacy - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

btw must have forgot to mention in my upload that I used a blue/green dye reinkers for water as well as the pigment white.

Marvy Puffy Velvet fabric markers - I just used the white marker to make bunny rabbit tails on some ATCs for an SCS swap - great stuff if you haven't tried it!
