ribbon bows

Whats the best way to tie a bow like this one:
http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/...85732?si=sc144

I'm OK at tying single bows when just on their own, but cant figure out how to tie it when attaching to a piece of card

Can you point me to any directions?

Hey, that card belongs to my sister!! I'll have her back to you and let you know which method she used here!

She's not online right now, but will be sometime tonight, I am sure!!

Thanks Lynn - spoke to Liz earlier!

Don't know if this will help or not, but I tie the ribbon around a cassette tape (or whatever sturdy square object you have handy), then once tied tightly, I clip the back of the ribbon (opposite the bow). That leaves me with the bow tied just the way I want it, with two "streamers" on either side. Wrap those streamers around your card and glue it in place.

That is a great idea!

When tieing bows around card, what I do is, just before the place you want the bow to be is, place a small amount of dst, holding my ribbon ends together, lay them over the dst, then tie the bow, it keeps the ribbon laying flat and is easier to tie the bow, don't know if this makes sense as I am not good at explaining things, what I might do it do a step by step pictorial and put it on my site. LOL.

Ok...maybe I cheat...but I make the bows separately then stick them on the ribbon with a glue dot. I don't think you can tell the difference and it sure makes it easier for my butterfingers!:D

I'm new here... What is dst?

AmberDawn 03-17-2008 04:34 PM

double sided tape I think:)

And you can always try the trick of tying it facing away from you instead of facing towards you if that makes sense. Think of tying a bow on the back of a girl's dress where they face you and you are looking down over their shoulder. I think of it as tying the bow upside down as opposed to getting behind them and you and the bow are facing each other. You'll get a perfect bow every time. I don't know why but someone taught me a long time ago and sure enough it works everytime. I'll put the ribbon and piece vertically in my lap w/ the design facing away from me (so I'm looking straight down at it). I love the "streamer idea" posted earlier so will follow up with that technique to get a snug fit.

I tie my bows upside down too. :) They aren't the easiest!

You can also wrap your ribbon around your image taping the ends to the back, then with a separate piece, slip under the ribbon that you wrapped around the image and then tye the bow. Gives you a little different look.
