Reverse Stamping
 

I just love the fish from the new winter mini catty - Toucan of my Love. What I love even more is the CUTE samples I have seen in the gallery of the fish kissing! How do you do the reverse stamping? I understand how to do this on vellum....but what about on regular paper? This is my first ever post - so please forgive me if I do anything wrong! Thanks in advance for anyone's help!! :)

I'm sure there are numerous ways to do this, but being kinda new myself, the only way that I know how to do it is with a brayer. Ink up the stamp and run the rubber brayer over the stamp to pick up the inked image. Then roll the brayer on your paper and you have transfered the mirrored image. Hope that makes sense. :)

I haven't tried this but I've read about using acetate to do the reverse stamping. Stamp your image, then stamp it on acetate, turn the acetate over, line up the images and then press down on your acetate. Because the ink doesn't dry on the acetate, you'll get a reverse image transferred. You can do this with a blank stamp but I've always had trouble getting a good image. The acetate might hold the ink better. Like I said, I haven't tried it but someone here on this forum described it and it sounded good!

there is a reverse stamp that you can purchase, and it is wonderful,this is how I domy reverse stamps.... that way if you have 2 snowman the same and you want them to face each other, stamp the original and then use the reverse stamp, this is much quicker than trying to figure it out with other papers, etc...........Pauline

There are reverse stamps out there. However, in my opinion they are a waste. All they are is a piece of rubber that you stamp on and then use that to stamp on the paper. All you need to do is get any of your solid shapes stamps and stamp on it and then use it to stamp on your paper.

One thing to remember though that the reverse will be second generation so you might want to make the first stamp that is going the right way second generation also.

Thanks for the tips...I thought you could only do it with vellum...now I'm so excited to try it...what a good use for my bold shapes set that they retired shortly after I finally broke down and bought it :x

I use my Shape of Things to do this too, but I've also heard of finding great buys on huge pink erasers, about 2x4 inches, and using that as well. Somebody found them at one of the office supply stores last year on sale for about $1.00 each. Great idea, if you can find one at a good price!
