Reverse a stamp image
 

Hello-
I have looked and I might just be calling it something it isn't, however, I am trying to reverse the image of a stamp. What I am attempting to do is to stamp a hat that is in one direction, and stamp but I need to also stamp it in the other direction. It isn't for a reflection but a separate image.

If this is something do-able, please let me know how it's done...:confused:...I appreciate the help!

There are several ways that I know of, you'll have to try them & see what works for you.
There are stamps made to do this, they look kinda like big shadow stamps. I've seen them in Michael's & JoAnn's. Depending on the size of your image, you could use any shadow stamp you have. I don't think your image will be as dark/clear as the original, but maybe that depends on ink & practice.
Otherwise I've heard that you can stamp on acetate/report covers/parchement paper/vellum then flip it over and burnish the image onto paper. Again, practice & ink type will probably make a difference.

Ooooooh...I would have NEVER thought of acetate or vellum...both of which I use a lot too:oops:
I don't have a Stamp A Ma Jig...this may just be the reason I finally get one.

No need to buy a stamp a ma jig - use some Lego building blocks from your kid's stash! My son thought I was crazy when I asked for a long piece(4 blocks worth) a medium piece (2 blocks worth) and several single blocks to connect everything together to make a nice deep T shape. I use scavenged plastic from packages and discover this works very well. I don't remember where I saw the idea but it saved me a bunch of money!

I've had quite good results with vellum, probably slightly better than with acetate. I've never managed to get the reversed image looking as dark as the original, but if it's for a separate image maybe that won't matter too much. Good luck with it, it is a bit of trial and error to find what works for you. But it should be eminently possible.

Reverse Image Stamp
 

Rubber Stampede makes a reverse image stamp that will solve your problem. You ink your stamp, put it on CS, then ink the stamp again and stamp it on the reverse image stamp and stamp the reverse image stamp where you want it. Great for reflection technique and other uses. The Rubber Stampede reverse image stamp is under $10. Good luck!

We just did this in Stamp Camp using Acetate and had very good results. The reversed image wasn't as dark as the original but it was OK because it was supposed to be a reflection anyway!

Good Stuff! I haven't had the chance to try the technique yet (need to do this without 4 little hands trying to help momma! :D ) When I find out what works best for me I will post.

Also, thanks for the tip on the Lego's...we have FAR too many of them that bare feet seem to find in the middle of the night so now I know what I can do with at least a few of them. Thanks!
