Look up at the top of the screen -- you should see a little icon that looks like an envelope. Click on that and it will take you to your PM mailbox. The option to send a new message is listed on the left. You can also send PMs by clicking on a person's name in the forum, or going to their personal member profile.
BTW, poking around and clicking on random links is a pretty good way to explore and learn all the great features available on the site! A few links might be a bit wonky since the team seems to be doing some tinkering today, but just give it time! ;)
