How do you get the SU Blender Pen apart to put the blender refill into it? I tried and I can't figure this out...

Thanks!

ok, I cheat. I use the SU cleaner directly on the stamp 'washer'. if it dries out in a little bit i rejuvenate it with water. guess that's not exactly diluting the SU cleaner. If I am using stazon I spray the SU cleaner directly on the stamp then clean.

I just read somewhere to put the refill for the blender pen in a container and place the pen tip-side down in the solution for 30-60 minutes to soak it up that way. I haven't tried this myself, but have plenty of dried up blender pens to experiment with.

Thanks for sharing the recipes!

I have always diluted my SU cleaner by spraying two sprays of cleaner and misting with two sprays of water.. works perfect!

Misti, I was skeptical about using Simple Green on my stamps. I emailed the company since there wasn't anything on their website.. other than it could be used of tires.. and it wouldn't remove adhesives.
The lady that emailed me back said they recommend 30 parts water to 1 part SG. Soo that's approx what I use.
Vicki, I don't put glycerin in my SG. I don't know if that would affect the SG or not. I haven't read where any SCS'er has, but tis always possible. I clean badly stained rubba w/ SG recipe then follow up w/ the stamp cleaner recipe. Reckon I'm pamperin' them a little? ;)
Ya'll have a blessed night, Stormy

You can also take an old set of Blening pens set them open pen tip side down and fill them from the ink refill with the In Colors to create a set of Brush tip Markers for your incolor set. Just make sure and label them.

Best to you,

Ok can you just buy a regular spray bottle to put the homemade solution in

Does it work with staz on as well

What about the Stamp Scrubber.. Is there something else we can use in place of that?

Yes, any regular spray bottle works. I use an empty, washed out well, Panteen Hair Spray bottle for the baby wash cleaner. I bought a cheap big spray bottle for my Simple Green recipe.

I use the Simple Green recipe and old soft toothbrush for StazOn ink, rinse, then I use the baby wash cleaner to condition the rubber. The baby wash cleaner didn't clean the StazOn by itself.

I make my own scrubber as recommended by SCS'ers here. I buy a pkg. of 2 replacement wall paint edgers then cut them down to fit into empty SU! bubble stamp cases. You can use anything to store them in.. even a ziploc baggie! For bigger stamps, I take the trimmer out and hold it in my hand to scrub the stamp. These edgers are the same thing you pay $10-$12 for from stamp companies which have the single or double sided, flat, snap-close plastic case. To verify a bit.. the edgers are to paint the edge of the wall at ceiling and baseboards.
Happy stampin' and may God bless, Sandi

I just pulled the white tip out of the pen. Some of mine had been empty/dried out for probably a year so I dropped the tips into the refill solution to soak for a while to rehydrate then refilled the pen and put the tip back in. They worked just like new!!

Ranger makes an ink refresher that you can also use on your blender pens, markers and ink pads. It's about $5 for 4oz. I've been using it for a year and maybe used 1/3 of the bottle. Before I bought reinkers for my SU pads I used and it really helped refresh them. I also use it on my blender pens, works great!

Hi,

does the blender pen refill really work? I read on some threads that it doesn't work well. I tried too and it doesn't really work. Not sure if I did something wrong...

Hi.....new to stamping, and until yesterday, only had clear stamps. I use alcohol-free baby wipes to clean them. Can I use these wipes on rubber stamps as well? TIA!

I was also wondering if you can use 2 colors per blender pen for both sides or does it only work for one color? And does anyone know how to clean the blender pen?

I have made and used this cleaner for about a year now and love it for my wood mounted stamps, however I am wondering about it on my clear stamps because the acrylic blocks seem to become oily and then the stamps don't cling as well. Anyone have any ideas?

I made some cleaner the last time this thread came up. I used Orange Clean, glycerine and tap water. It works great! I keep it in a spray bottle on my work table and don't have to scrub stamps with a brush any more. As for how long it lasts, it never stays around long enough to go bad. When you go to the drug store for glycerin be prepared for foggy looks. The young man who helped me finally found it in the aisle with hand lotion.

Always use distilled water when diluting mediuims or making supplies...chemicals and/or minerals in tap water can cause discoloration.

Interesting thread. Great information. I'm going to try these.
If you boiled the tap water, does that count as distilled water?
My mind is working today ( sort of ) tee hee. I was going throught the thread ,and thought , I could make a little scrapbook to put these recipes. You know , make recipe cards. But I digress.

i think boiled water wouldn't do the job as it would still contain chemicals like chlorine, fluoride, etc, that wouldn't be good for our stamps. distilled water is basically steam.. so it's free from chemicals.. i stand to be corrected!

Not only free from chemicals, but free from minerals (iron is one). No correction needed!

When water is distilled it is boiled into the steam state. The steam is channeled into a different container where it is condensated. Teh elements, chemicals etc are left in the original container in which the water was boiled.

If you used other than distilled water there is a chemical reaction with not only chemicals like the chlorine, but also the minerals that occur naturally in water. The chemical reaction will alter the color of inks, dyes, papers, etc.

If the water is distilled it also eleminates microorganisms which cause the other compents to "Spoil"

For cleaner I don't know that it really matters, try making a small batch of each and see what happens.

Best of luck,
Markey
