Default Glass Etching Questions

I read these instructions: Gallery at Splitcoaststampers for glass etching. I have 3 questions: Does the embossing powder have to be clear? Do I rub the etching cream over the whole area where the design is or do I apply it only over the design outline? And, can I use the pampered chef nylon scraper to scrape the design off after the etching cream sets?

The way I understand these directions is: stamp the glass with versamark, emboss, rub cream on and let set, then scrape off the raised design. Am I understanding this correctly?

For those who reply, thanks so much for your help!!! This site has such a wealth of information and I appreciate everyone's time, more than you know.
