Do you have a Making Memories sticker tweezer (the kind that squeezing opens and it closes itself when you don't squeeze)? Use that to hold onto the knot while you finish the bow. Easy to slip on, easy to take back off, and you probably already have one in your tool kit.
When I tie a knot, I hold the ribbon ends with my thumbs and index fingers and actually use the middle finger on my left hand (I'm right-handed, if that makes a difference) to hold the ribbon in place while I finish tying.

I use an old hemostat. It has handles like a scissors and pinches shut, so I can let go and tie the rest.
Those are some of the most useful tools ever. Only problem is, every time I need mine for something, hubby or son has "borrowed" them for a project in the basement or garage. I think I need to paint the handles pink or something. Pink appears to be some sort of man repellent.

rotflmbo .... my tweezers are pink for that very reason. I now *need* my hemostats to be pink as well...... think DH will paint them for me? ;-).
Thanks for all the ideas. I have trouble tying bowls also. Particularly like the fork idea. I have done it by putting a quilting pin in a piece of styrofoam and then tying around it.
