Default Faux Dry Embossing?

I have tried to find tutorials or instructions on Faux Dry Embossing. Could anyone please share? Thanks in advance.

Have a look at ormanx5's faux embossed card.

The idea used in this case, is that you stamp the image once in the same colour as the cardstock. Then, using a stamp positioner (if you have one...if not...try using a book to help with the positioning), stamp the same image again, this time with white ink.

Default Hmmmm?

There are more than just one or two design techniques that people have called faux embossing. I found these by usung Google:
(1) Using stencil paste (like DreamWeavers).
(2) Cut out small shapes or die cuts of cardstock (exactly same color as base) and glue them on
(3) Layering stickers so the are raised above the card

I was wondering about this myself after seeing several posts mentioning it after convention - but what I couldn't get my mind around was how you were supposed to line up a wheel...............

until I read a post that somebody just mentioned in passing about lining up the seam. Then it made much more sense! Line the seam of the wheel with the edge of your card and wheel in versamark or same color as cardstock. Change cartridge to white ink and again line up wheel seam with edge of card, but move wheel over slightly and wheel over same spot.

Haven't actually tried it yet myself - but it's on my to do list that's been floating around in my head!!

Pam Morgan showed it at convention. It is too cool. I will write a tutorial soon. I think I will call it shadow wheeling...or something like that.

Here is a card I am making for a swap (I think), where I used that technique.

What is the best name for it?
I had thought of Shadow stamping but that is usually when you use a stamp like little Shapes. I making up a tech sheet debating calling it Shadow Stampin' anyways or faux dry embossing. I've also seen it done with just a stamp, looks cool.

I found info in the demo JAN SS Magazine - they only used wheels and from the best I can see they called it Shadow-rolling technique
here's how they did it.
Begin by rolling your wheel on scratch paper until the entire wheel is completely inked; you’ll want to begin with the darker ink first. Next, find the seam on the wheel, and position it even with the edge of the paper. Using a wheel guide, carefully roll the image onto the card stock. Clean off the wheel, and insert a Whisper White cartridge. Completely ink your wheel again. Finally, locate the seam again, and place it slightly before the spot where you began on the first roll. Now carefully roll the lighter image on top of the darker image, creating a wonderful dry-embossed look.

just like mentioned above. you can just use a bold & offset the same image using white craft ink.
