provocraft lunchbox...PLEASE HELP!

i am doing an altered lunchbox, the one from provocraft. i want to know what size you ladies make your dividers that go inside the box?

4 1/4 x 6 3/4 were the size that I used.

also,m how does everyone get around the handle hardware on top? im seeing all these altered lunchboxes that have paper on top and it looks as if the hadle and hardware were removed and taken off! the paper is so neat...whats the secret??
