I strongly recommend Stampin Up's cardstock vellum. And, you have to keep the embossing as far away from the vellum as possible. And, you have to be lucky!!

I emboss vellum all the time, I use Canson, Judikins,... sometimes cardstock vellum. It always stays flat. LOVE embossed vellum!!

Samples on my blog: http://stampingmathilda.blogspot.com...h/label/vellum

Just take care not to over heat.

The embossed vellum sample I have on my blog was not stamped...I ran the vellum through the printer (ink jet) and embossed the image. This is one of those cases where a picture really doesn't do the project justice. It really turned out well, thanks to Grafix Vellum.

The Grafix site (http://www.grafixarts.com/) has online shopping and a store locator for their products.

Default another tip

When embossing on vellum, place a piece of alum. foil under the vellum before using the heat gun. It is amazing how the foil helps distribute the heat. The vellum does not curl or warp.

Question

I use the joanns 50 sheet pack of vellum and it doesnt roll up too much. I do hold it a little ways away.

My problem is that about an hour later my embossing powder wipes off. Help- does anyone know why that might be? I use versamark and the SU black embossing powder.

You have to use an all-surface (crafters) when theraml embossing vellum. Vellum is more like a non-porous surface than a porous surface. I use Clearsnap Crafters...sometimes Clearsnap Ancient Page. Be sure the powder is completely melted.

I always use Versamark, never had this problem. Don't know what causes it.
