Default Printing on vellum?

I've read before but can't remember how you do this. I've found a poem I'd like to print off the computer onto vellum to put inside a card. Is there a better type of printer to use, a certain setting you put the computer on? Thanks.

Default Printing on vellum

I printed my brothers wedding invitations on vellum using an ink jet printer. They came out beautifully, you just have to take them off the printer 1 at a time so they don't smear. I printed 4 to a page then cut them to size. My demo said that I could have embossed them if I did it right away before the ink dried. I thave not tried this yet however. Good Luck! Laura

I really have nothing to add to what Laura said but I wanted to let you know her plan worked for me also. I did my daughter's wedding invitations this way and the only thing you have to be careful about is removing the pages one at a time and not handling or stacking until the ink has dried. This only take a few minutes. I love doing this. It looks very cool when you print a photo on vellum too!

Smile Printing on vellum

I did the same as the others, but sometimes it would spread on the vellum, so someone on this forum said about change the setting to "transparency paper"...I tried that and liked it much better. It prints finer on the vellum, especially if your vellum is thin. When I printed on SU cardstock vellum it was fine, but the thinner vellum, not SU, the ink from the printer will spread. Hope this helps.

I have printed onto vellum using a laser printer, and it worked great! The ink is dry when it comes right out of the printer, although I gave each sheet a few minutes just to be sure. I have used both SU! vellum and non-SU! vellum, and both worked fine...

Thank you!

I bought vellum today and as a practice my husband printed a color picture and it came out great. I'll try printing the poem this evening and see how it goes.

Thanks a lot.

I've done the inkjet printing and embossing on vellum and it is soooo coooool! You sprinkle the embossing powder on the page as it comes out of the printer (while the ink is still wet). I use a baby spoon to keep from getting the powder everywhere. Then you just shake off the powder and emboss like you would a stamped image. It gives a really neat effect - like the raised print on wedding invitations. Detail clear powder seems to work the best, although you could do black print with black powder as well. I haven't tried any of my metallic powders yet, though.
