Printing inside of card
 

Hi, Does anyone know where I can find instructions on how to print wording on the inside of a card, using microsoft word or any other software. I would like to make cards with specific wording. Thank you for your help. :)

I usually print off on nice 28lb white bond paper and trim to fit the inside of my card. If you are looking for instructions how to use a specific software program, I'm sure you could google a tutorial for the software you're looking for.

I use word - I type what I want, tab it over to where I want it than I print it on copy paper to make sure it will be where I want it on the card, than I run card stock through the printer, and cut it down to fit. I hope that helps. Avery had a card template for a while (for card specific size) - you can try there for a template. It was a free download when I saw it last. Good luck!

Mr65.....In MSWord you just create a document in the size of the card you want. In Page Set-Up this is the settings I use.

Paper - 8.5 wide 5.5 high
Margins - Top and Bottom and Right 0.5 Left 4.75
Orientation - Portrait

Create a Text Box on the Right side of the card. This is the front of your card or the inside Right side. Within the text box you can put your verbage. In a text box you can use the Certering, Left, Right or Justify setting also.

I cut my cardstock to the A2 size and print. You might want to print on scrap paper first to make sure things are where you want them.

This is just brief instructions, but I think you can get the idea. I'm sure there are other ways to do it, but this works for me. You can also use various card programs to do the same thing. You could also use MSPublisher to do it, too.

If you use Avey template shipping label and type it using the labels that come 4 to a sheet. It works like a charm. I took them to the printers and had them cut to.

PJW2855 has the same idea I use. I have played with various ways for some time and find her explanation to be the easiest. Always test on plain paper to make sure it's how you want it. Also have used the other suggestion of print and cut on plain paper and insert inside card. Either way, it's really fun to personalize the cards for friends. :)

You're all very welcome. I've used this format from the earliest to create my cards on the computer. Now I just use it for the inside message and the sentiment on the front. The rest is stamped, colored, embellished, etc.

I do a lot of scripture cards, so I can mix up the fonts within a sentence or even within a word with upper case, lower case, small caps, italics.... and on and on.

and, you can layer layer layer after you print and trim!

I use a process somewhat like what has been described, yet somewhat different. I do not have special programs p and use MSWorks which was preinstalled on our computer. I have saved many examples of verses (from SCS, versalog.com, other cards, etc.), arranged in folders by occasion.

I have set up templates for portrait and landscape formats, with 2 columns selected. Since I have not figured out how to print only 1 card (half page of cs) I usually do 2 cards at once, using a full sheet. I may arrange them both at the bottom of the page (one in the left and one in the right hand column - then I am set for 2 top fold cards.
Or, I may arrange them both on the right column, one at the top and one just below center. Then, when cut, they will be used for a card that opens on the right.

I set the margins for .6, and the space between columns at 1.2, and select to have the lines centered, rather than aligned on the left - easier to do margins this way.

Once I have all this worked out, I will print on plain paper to check. I save my template (with verses), and just copy and paste whatever verses I plan to use.

This also makes it easy to do, for example, a Scripture verse on the left hand side (or the top) and a different verse on the usual, right hand side.

I've attached a word document that will print the inside of a card. You just replace my text with your text, print, and cut. If you want to print on the front and inside of the card, you need to read the help on your printer as how to turn the paper when it comes out the printer.

This "template" is sized for 8 1/2 x 11" paper. HTH

set up is great but what about sayings
 

I am having trouble finding a suitible saying for the insides of my cards so i am just leaving most of them blank. I really would like to add something inside but can't find anything except stuff that is corney and stupid. Any guidance where I might go to find something good to use. What are you using on the inside of yours? Thanks for your help Betty

If you are looking for sayings to use, try quotations.about.com This is a new web site to me but seems to have many things to choose from: birthday, funny, etc. Hope this helps. Also, when I did decorative painting on wood cutouts, I bought a couple of books with cutsie sayings: Heartwarming Expressions, bk 1 and bk 2. You may find them at the library. What paper do you use to run through the printer and still be suitable to stamp on and then color?

MM18, My experience has been to use regular card stock. Most printers will carry it ok. Be sure to put through a practice piece (I use old scrap paper) to make sure it is placed where you want it and the font is what you want. You can spend a lot of time playing with the fonts and wording. I usually try and tie into the theme I'm using, ie: a broken bone in an accident goes with my stamped image of a cat covered with bandages, saying: "Sorry about your "Cat"astrophy!" You can also use some other papers, like velum, but be sure to let the ink dry completely as it will smear if still wet. You can then cut and paste the velum square inside the card but use special tape for velum. Have fun!

Betty, there are lots of good suggestions here. I always keep a small notebook in my purse. Whenever I am in a store that sells greeting cards, I browse through and jot down cute sayings from cards that I like. I transfer them to my computer by category, i.e. birthday, all occasion, funny, etc.

I love cats and have lots of cat stamps, so I especially look at cards with cats on them. I just saw a cute one recently to add to my list. For a birthday, cat on front, and the sentiment: "You're not getting older..."

Inside says, "The mice are just getting faster!"

Sentiments are certainly a matter of personal taste, and I tend to like the humorous ones the best, especially for birthdays.
