i have been practicing this for a bit now, and everytime, my ink muddies up with the color i am working with.
i have tried sealing the inked image first with a sealer like i read somewhere and that does help the color move easier but i dont like the black messing up with the color.
does anyone else have this problem too?
i was going to try with stazon but havent picked it up yet.
Are you using the SU black? I use the gamsol with colored pencils a lot and can't remember this ever happening. Stazon is great but I'm surprised you are having problems with the SU, if that's what you are using.

I've done this technique with SU Classic Black ink and with Ancient Page Coal Black ink, and have never had any "muddying" like you described. So I'd think either of these inks would work for you too.
What kind of cardstock are you using? SU's Ultrasmooth White (or Whisper White as they call it now) works well for me, and so does Georgia Pacific white cardstock.
Believe it or not I have had the same problems.Even my blender pen would pull the black.I was fit to be tied! Do you no what it ended up being? My paper! This is true! Now the only white paper I use is stampin up. You will never see me buy any other. I am sold on it. By the way i am not a demo just a stamper who learned a good lesson the hard way.
I tried the SU black & found that it does smear using this technique. Definitely go with the Staz On for this one. Just give it a minute or 2 to dry completely before starting to color.

Sharlene, I think you did a really good job with this technique, especially for your first few attempts! I left additional comments for you in your gallery.
If you're interested, here is the first card I did using this technique: college graduation card
and here's one of my favorites that I've made using this method of coloring: Binkley bunny
I know the backgrounds are a bit washed out in the scans, but y'all are welcome to comment on them if you'd like.
I use india ink for anything I want to color in with watercolor pencils or do the gamsol on. It is my ink pad I couldn't stamp without. Easy to find at stamp stores and the refill is cheap.
