Polyshrink Question

Good Morning Ladies!!

I have a question I hope I can get some help with. I was holding a stamp camp at my house this weekend and we were replicating the fish in a bag seen on this site. I used purple stazon and stamped the fishy friends on clear polyshrink and after shrinking it put in a bag filled with hair gel. About 30 minutes later though the purple ink starting coming off the polyshrink and turned the hair gel purple. What did I do wrong? Do I need to seal the polyshrink with sealer before I put it in the gel? Nail polish maybe?

Thanks for any input.

I've never seen polyshrink put in a bag.

When we made gel cards, we just put gel in it and laid it directly on top of our stamped images.

Perhaps if you want to try this again, you might want to try Stazon, but I would want to know if the polyshrink would break down in the gel before even trying it. A water based stamp pad, which the classic pads are, will always come off when they get wet.

Hope you figure it out. Gel cards are SO cute!

polyshrink

I'm wondering if the gel you used had alcohol in it - many of them do. And I know that rubbing alcohol (like for first aid) will clean StazOn off of tiles, etc. Just a thought ...

Well

After trying this a bunch of different ways and no matter what I've done, the ink runs in the gel. The properties of the gel just attack the polyshrink. No matter what I sealed it with, the polyshrink ran. But when I took it out, wiped it off, the image was still okay. That was odd. But from now on I'm sticking with what I know. Stamp the card, put the bag of gel over it.

The gal who created that card said she used Aloe gel (used for sunburns). Like previously posted, the gel you're using probably has alcohol in it..??? Try a different gel.
