polyshrink

Help. I just got the sheets of polyshrink and I can't seem to do it right. I hold it down when I am using the heat gun and it curls so bad it turns into a ball. I tried a flower punch and a tag punch and trying to hold down all the corners but it still curls into a ball and I can't get it to flatten. Any tips would be much appreciated. Thnaks.

My SU Demo showed us a pretty easy way- you take an embriodery hoop (the kind used for cross stitching and stuff), and you put a piece of screen in it... then place over your polyshrink (placing your polyshrink on a piece of foil helps to evenly distribute the heat), and hold in place while you're using your heat gun on it, and WALA! Works great for me (I've had them curl up before too, and I like the way this works!!

Good luck!

What you have to do is keep heating it and it will flatten back out. It sounds like you are stopping once it shrinks and curls up. Believe me, don't stop! It will flatten back out, just keep your heat gun on it, moving it around alot.

I gave up on the heat gun and now use my oven.
Only takes a couple of minutes and they come out flat as a pancake.
No muss, no fuss, no frustration!

No prob - also, you might want to press a wood stamp, wood side down, over your creation after it is shrunk to make sure it is flat. Just for a few seconds after you heat up and it is shrunk, until it cools down. It may stick a bit to the wood block, but no worries, just pull it right off.
