Default Is there a resource for tops of old fashioned soda bottles?

I saw this on an "In The Wild Card" and would love to make it. I think it is embossed. Any help would greatly be appreciated. This site is great!!!

I'd guess that your best bet for true "vintage" soda bottle caps would be Ebay . . .

I happened to see these on www.addictedtorubberstamps.com last night. But I think they were a bit pricey... 24 for 5 bucks or something like that.

My guess on how she got that little head inside of the bottle cap is that she stamped it on the brown paper that she matted her patterned paper on. Then it looks like she cut the head out to fit the inside of the bottle cap and covered it all with a layer of Crystal Effects for that shiney look. Is that the question that you were asking? Hope that helps.

By the way.....that beer and wine making site is a great source for bottle tops! A fabulous price!

This technique was taught to us Technique Junkies in our Feb newsletter. Check it out at www.techniquejunkies.com .

Pat taught us to heat the rubber insert to pull it out. Stamp your image and punch it out. Put adhesive on the back of the image and place it inside your bottle cap (you'll need to make sure it's flat). Then just pour in clear embossing powder. Heat using an oven, a griddle, or low-blowing heat gun. You can also heat it from beneath with your heat gun. You don't need ink to hold the embossing powder and don't pour off the excess.

HTH!

Here is soemthing I wrote up a while back. I have found that you DO NOT need to remove the bottlecap rubber and it still works fine.

To do this you need a bottlecap (new or used) and you stamp an image, and cut it to fit in the bottlecap (the AlphaAccenst jr. circles fit right in)

Place the image in a bottlecap, and cover with clear embossing powder-be generous with it. Place it in an oven at 325 degrees for 5-8 minutes-you will see the ep become clear as it heats. Once it is melted (and you can see the image in it easily) take it out and let it dry/cool. The ep acts as a sealer and keeps the paper image inside.

I get my bottlecaps at a home brew store since my DH brews beer

Default FREE bottlecaps for your projects

You can get your bottlecaps for FREE...just call your local bar and ask for them! They're just going to toss them into the garbage..you might as well make something useful out of them. You may want to rinse off the caps so they don't smell like beer, and you may get a few strange looks from patrons when you go to pick up the bottlecaps, but it's FREE and you will probably get a ton of them!
