Peek-a-boo card tutorial question....Need Help

Hi,
I wanted to make a Peek-a-boo card using the tutorial here on SCS but need
help I am using the Spellbinders Classic Oval Large
Dies and I am using the largest oval from the set. The die measures 3 1/16" by
4"---> how do I rework the measurements? The die opening is 2 3/4" x 3 3/4"

2) is this a card the remains open at the back? Is there a way to enclose the card so the mechanism cannot be seen? Or is this impossible given the way the
card has to move in order to open & close?

Thanks in advance for your help

Hi. the die that you are using (the largest Spellbinders Classic Oval die) is too wide for the 5 1/2" square card in the SCS tutorial. You need to increase the card to a 6" square card to accomodate the wider width. My original tutorial on my blog is for the 6" square card and you can find it here:
From My Craft Room: Peek-A-Boo Card Tutorial (6" or 15cm square)
Also, the original way of doing the back of of the card will hide the mechanism.

PS. I altered things for the SCS tutorial because 5 1/2" cards seem to be a favorite card size among SCS crafters (while 6" is my fave card size...hee hee) and the way of doing the back seem to be easier.

Hope this helps.

Hi Norma,
Thank you for your reply- I'd seen your tutorial for the 6" sq card before but
I am wondering if it will work for the die I'm using- will the 6x9 need to be
increase by 1/4th inch to accomodate my 2 3/4 die? Or will scoring at 3"'as you
Did with your card still work in my case?

Also, is the original card glued on 3 sides on the back with the slider part
not glued? Your tutorial only shows glue down the opposite side of the
slider part so I'm confused.

Thanks,

Manjari

Hi Manjari,
The 6x9 cardstock will still work for your 2 3/4 die, but if you want you can increase it by 1/8" (no more) to 6"x9 1/8" and then score at 3 1/8". Note that this will leave you only 1/8" to apply the glue to attach the card back.

And yes, the back is glued only on that one side--the opposite side of the slider--not on three sides. The slider part needs to move in and out and it won't be able to do this if you glue the top and bottom, so they are left unglued.

Cheers,
Norma
