Can anyone explain to me how people are getting the pattern paper into some portions of the stamped images? Here is an example. Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
I am having a hard time figuring this out.
Thanks so much,

My guess is they stamp on the patterned paper and then carefully cut it out and paste it on top of an already stamped image on the plain paper. Make sense?

Yes that was my initial thought but they all look so perfect that I thought maybe there was so "trick" to getting them that nice looking , like masking of some sort .
I guess I will have to give it a whirl and see!
Thanks,

Sharon, I am glad you asked this question, as I have been wondering how this is done myself. I thought that they were stamping and cutting as has been suggested, but gosh, that seems like it would be more difficult than it needs to be. Hopefully, some who have done this, will see your question and inform us.

In her comments, she states that she loves cutting out the dresses because it is like paper dolls so apparently she did! I am planning to buy that set next--I just love it. Funny thing is, I am the only one in my group of stampers that likes it! Oh well!
Yep, that is how I do it. It is called applique technique. I came up with it years ago and got my samples published in Stamper's Sampler several years ago. You can do it with all kinds of images.
this is how i was told to it and it works really good a little hard but really cool results, go to walmart get carpet tape it is about 2 inches wide and about 2.00 or so , then you stamp image on card get your pp and put the tape on the back side of pp make sure it covers the area you are going to stamp, then stamp image on pp front side of pp, cut it out and peel off tape backing and place the pp over the stamped image your done it is really neat how it works out and by the way be really careful placing it on stamped image it sticks really good.... hope this helps

Hmm cool, thanks for taking the time to post your tips. Can I ask why carpet tape? Is it because its dbl-sided or something else? Should the tape cover the entire stamped image?
Thanks,

Carpet tape! Too much work for me. Glue stick around the edges after cutting out the patterned paper would work for me. Saw the technique in a magazine recently, can't remember which one. Only suggestion was to find paper with a tiny pattern that would look good for the dresses. That one also used a ribbon for the belt.
A tip I learned from labullard (DD gal) is to put packing tape on the back of the image you are going to cut out to give it some stability (especially for those items with really little areas). When you are ready to adhere, just run through you Xyron!

I probably would put a chunk of pattern paper through my Xyron then stamp on it and cut it out. I never thought of getting carpet tape--cool idea when one doesn't have a Xyron! Thanks for the tip!--Jeannie
