As stated in post #9... I shared the link because they have served as inspiration for me. However the site belongs to Sue Nelson... I know she also post here on SCS, however, I do not know her SCS name:( .

That is an awesome site and I'd also found it. I just wish I had the swiss dot embosser and a score pad. Our Michael' s doesn't have them. Any ideas were I could find one?? I'm in the middle of Missouri- Columbia.

I have yet to see the new folders at Michaels... do you have Hobby Lobby or Joann's there? I've found some at one, some at the other.

Julie in Indy 04-04-2008 01:53 AM

I ordered the cuttlebug folders from busy bee - quick shipping!
I got the Scor-Pal from Archivers.

darleenstamps recently posted these beautiful CB embossing folder cards inspired by Susie B (Sue Nelson), and the fifth comment is from Susie B herself!

I already have an old style Sizzix, the sidekick, a QK handtool and a Zip e Mate (made by Accucut), as well as a Wishblade.

Unfortunately none of those machines allowed the cuttlebug embossing folders to be inserted sideways and partial embossing wouldn't work without it. So I waited for a coupon from Michael's and got a CB machine.

DH thought I was nuts until he saw a card I CASE'd from Sue's site.

I have a Sizzix too, but was wondering...couldn't you still do it? It simply would be on the shorter ends of the paper? May give it a try later...

Maybe I'm a bit challenged in that kind of thing, but I was unable to figure out how to do it with a full card front and get it only partially embossed.

I bet I could do it with just a piece of cardstock (not folded) but only if I wanted to emboss the top portion only - there is no way to get the cardstock to stick out side-to-side.

Hopefully that makes sense. I have a tough time explaining what I'm thinking sometimes.

Sairabee 04-06-2008 12:28 PM

Oh man! I *just* got my Cuttlebug, and now I need a Scor-pal too?!? lol! This site is KILLIN' me!

Julie-
Did you check out the Indigo Inklings links? She also had a post about partial diagonal embossing (Not in the CB, dangit!) recently. She really did have pretty clear instructions for partial cb'ing.

afancycat 04-06-2008 03:58 PM

I didn't think I needed a scor-pal.....now I'm not so sure!!!!

Your embossed wedding card

I was referred to your site and am reading all the "wow" comments about your use of Cuttlebug embossing folders - but for some reason, there is no picture of your card at the top for me to enjoy. How do I access it?
Don't know if I'll find your site again - so would you please e-mail me at:
[email protected] and let me know how I can look at your lovely creations? Thanks so much. Jan Holter

PatMil23 04-06-2008 04:30 PM

Wow, those cards are awesome. I didn't like the embossing on the cuttlebug, it looked too perfect, but seeing those contrasting patterns just changes the whole look. Now I have to get those dots!

Quiltnstamper 04-06-2008 05:20 PM

This has definitely got my creative juices flowing. Time to bring out the cuttlebug.

Thanks for the prompt reply. Would you mind telling me how much you paid for the score pad?

Gotcha!!!! I didn't realize you were attempting to do a FULL panel.

AmylovesNormaJean 04-08-2008 05:05 AM

I paid $40.00 for my Score Pal at my local Scrapbooking Store, and even though I like the Score Pal I was upset with the fact that it cost so much and considered it greatly overpriced. I think a lot of scrapbooking dealers know us Scrapbookers/card makers are willing to pay a lot for a 'new tool' so they know they can greatly overprice their items. All it is is a piece of plastic that probably only cost them $5.00 to make. I don't think they should have charged more than $20.00 for the item. I actually waited quite awhile to buy it, hoping the price would eventually come down, but it didn't. All my other local scrapbooking friends agreed with me that the item was way over-priced.

Julie - check this post on the Indigo Inklings blog: Diagonal Cuttlebug

There is a special set of long, narrow cutting plates that work on Big Shot/BigKick machines that I THINK are the same thickness as the cutting plates (B plates?) for the Cuttlebug.

What Jay is doing, you should be able to adapt to your Cuttlebug. She is just using those long narrow plates for her sandwich instead of the regular cutting plates, so the only part of the folder that embosses is the part sandwiched between those plates. Where the plates don't cover, no pressure is put on the folder, and it doesn't emboss.

I am SO stopping and picking up those narrow plates tonight after work. I know our Michael's carries them.

partial cuttlebug embossing

WoW!!
I have never seen such beautiful cards !! thanx for the tutorial and eye candy!! Guess I'm, going to be CB ing after work!!

monizcel 04-08-2008 12:21 PM

I have prefolded cards...can you do the partial cuttlebug with prefolded cards or only with flat cardstock that you then have to adhere to your card base?

I just tried to do the partial cuttlebug with an A7 and A2 folded card and I got a 'blank' edge at the fold of the card, since the embossing folder only goes to a certain point and then stops...this in order to be able to feed the paper/folder through the cuttlebug.

Also I get the hard imprint of the folder edge (line) on the inside of the card, since the entire card went through the cuttlebug.

Any help with that?

Thanks

And should I really get one???!!! HELP - I need advice!! I live about an hour to an hour and 15 min from an Archivers... I've already posted some things on here to try and raise $ for my cuttlebug fund, now it seems I may have to go find some more things I can live without!!!! :D Is that really possible?

In case anyone is looking...the cuttlebug and all accessories are on sale at Michael's this week at 50% off. AND if they don't have it...take the ad and go to Joann's and they will match it! I went to Michael's and they were out. There was a Joann's across the street so I went over there and asked if they matched the ad and they said yes. So I came home with a cuttlebug and two sets of dies. They didn't have any new folders. Sigh.

Thank you for posting this. . . now I don't feel so bad for having some of those machines as well, yet still buying the CB today.

I was at Joanns yesterday and they didn't have any folders either...UGH I was so disappointed. I might go back to Michaels again today to see if they have any more and I'm going to another (much larger) Michaels tomorrow. I'm really looking for some more embossing folders, but I am having a hard time finding them. Does AC Moore price match? AC Moore had some embossing folders that I wanted, but I wasn't sure about the price or if they were on sale.

suzannj 04-10-2008 12:27 PM

Susie B.'s website is an awesome site. I have a cuttlebug and love all the embossing folders. I am so inspired to get more creative with them. Thanks for sharing the site.

TheGeneralsWife 04-10-2008 09:42 PM

I am so bumed out that all the A2 size embossing folders are soldout in every Michael's ( all 5 of them) 3 of our Joann's and the Beverleys we have here. Too bad. I would have even gotten one I already had to exchange at a latter date but nothing, so i guess I will stik to the same boring ones I do have to try these coll tricks out. Got a bunch of wedding cards to cook up soon.

Thanks to Jay @ Indigo Inklings, I finally figured out how to do the Partial Cuttlebug technique! :D

Her blog with pictures and instructions can be found HERE

and here's the card I made: Perfectly Paisley Hello ... TFL

I use folded cards all of the time, just fold it around and to the back of the folder. I can't help you with the second question, but with the third one, don't run the whole card through, just what you want to emboss, then back it out. That is how I did it anyway.

hope this helps
