I tried using the waxed paper technique to create a leather look, but I'm looking for something a bit more...oh, realistic? Can anyone point me in a good direction?
A few days ago I made, by accident, some CS look like suede!! All I did was spray it with water and then roll it up and roll it round and round in my palm...then I opened it up and dried it with my heat gun, then I repeated the process...it got the surface sorta pilled up like suede looks...it was really cool!
Use creamy caramel with it too when you do like Keri said. In the catalog on page 234 is a cool card that if you make it identical it looks leathery too!
I make faux suede with liquid applique. /i've done it with brown and white mixed with a brown re-inker. Anyway put about a quarter size dollop on a 1/4 sheet of paper rollout with your brayer ( wash off right away) you can let it dry first or if your impatient like me i heat it right away. The thinner you get your app. the more like saude it looks. Shawna
I make my suede with the Krylon Spray Paint called Make It Suede. They showed this technique in one of the Summer issues of Creating Keepsakes. You just spray your cardstock or whatever, let dry and stamp! I usually do a couple to three light sprays letting them dry about 10 minutes in between. You can also make it look like stone the same way just use the Make it Stone spray.

My demo has also used the fun foam in brown. Heat the foam until it is getting a little soft and stamp into the foam to make an impression. Then sponge a little ink over the impression if you want to bring out the detail a little more. Cut to desired shape/size.
They showed us at regionals to take your bone folder and repeatedly "pull" the cs over the bf. It takes a while but the cs gets softer and starts to separate into layers...Stamp on the "inside" layer
I have only tried one Tech,. But it worked very well, you crumple your card, roll it, you know just make it ugly. Then I open it up and with my Versamark I tap that on the paper, so it only gets on the raised part. then heat set it.

Hey! I made up this technique this spring. I did a demo on it at a meeting my upline was having. I also used this technique on my convention swaps this year. I turned one into SU also. Do you think I'll be receiving royalties from the use of my technique?
When I do my Paper Suede technique, I just crumple and flatten the cardstock over and over again until it starts to seperate at the edges. The "softer" you get the cardstock (by crumpling it over and over) the easier it is to peel it into two pieces. The inside part of the cardstock is what gets that soft, suedey look.
This technique is similiar to some that have already been mentioned, however, I saw it done on the Carol Duvall Show. I was real happy with the results when I tried it. HTH!
That's a neat idea, but you can get the look of tooled leather more easily by just dry embossing Really Rust CS and sponging it lightly with Close to Cocoa and Really Rust inks. This looks really good for cards with a western or outdoor theme.

Morning Happy Heart! I just thought that other technique was so great because I don't have the embossing tools yet...and you can use any stamp to make the impression!!! WOW!! :o
Oh, I'm definitely going to try the sueded technique, but just thought I'd offer an alternative for times when you're in a rush!
