Paper Piercing?

I see so many people now who are doing paper piercing on their cards. I have tried it, and it's not working for me. What are they using? I have a Basic Grey paper piercer, but it makes such a tiny hole that it is barely noticeable. Any ideas?

I used to have a making memories paper piercer that I loved until it broke. Not from piercing paper, my teenaged son used it to pry something metal. I replaced it with another paper piercer that I wasn't pleased with, and now I use the sharp end of a compass. My kids had one sitting on my desk after doing math homework. I saw the sharp end and thought that it would work pretty well, and it does.

Really tiny holes are probably Ornare Vellum piercer or their regular one. There's also mutliprong pokers like these.

I use a yarn needle when I do it.

I use the MM piercer, only because it is easier to hold. A thumbtack works pretty well otherwise!
MY problem is keeping the pattern straight! I use a grid, but somehow I tend to move it ever so slightly...

I use the mat pack template available from Stampin' Up! Its THE best thing ever!
As for the sharp pokey thing I use - it was something I found in the sewing section of one of our big craft stores. The brand name is Clover and basically its got a nice handle for you to hold at the top and a big needle type thing at the bottom! If I find one online I'll come back and point you to the link so you can see what I mean! My explanation really isnt that great! lol

I bought one at the $ store and it works great. When I couldn't find it, I stuck a yarn needle in a wine cork and used that.

I use the the Mat Pack Template from SU too. I think it works out great! For my poker, I just picked something up from Michael's or Hobby Lobby once and it works great.
Hope that helps!
