I was intrigued by your question and the origami beads so I made an effort to find instructions online. The first I found were round, not flat, beads here: http://www.hgtv.com/crafting/woven-p...ace/index.html but I continued to look... without any luck! I found lots of fascinating origami patterns (I just love paper folding), but no flat beads. I'll watch this thread to see if anyone else finds them. Or, if I find them later, I'll come back and post. Sorry I couldn't help. :(

You are adorable, I did the same thing, I actually had to stop looking because I had spent 2 hrs admiring and thinking of my next project! I have seen the rolled up paper beads, but I want these. I think they look like strips of paper folded in the same pattern that you would fold lanyards. I will give it a try tonight with some left over quilling papers? worth a try????
Thanks for trying to help |
I think that's exactly what they are, Jill.

The beads reminded me of the cord buttons you get that go with the "frog" fastenings on traditional Chinese garments. I don't know what kind of knot that would be though - there are loads of knot tying tutorial out there but I'm having a hard time translating the visual of rounded cord into the flatter result you'd get with paper. I'm wondering if it could be something like a Turk's Head knot?
We'd love to know how you get on with those quilling strips! |
I have been searching lanyard patterns without luck yet, but still looking, I never give up
