Default GREAT clipboards!

If you're looking for altered clipboard ideas, check out the two peas in a bucket gallery. It's awesome! There are pages and pages of beautiful clipboards!
Try this link:
http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/pg.a...ard%25%27&pg=1

If the link doesn't work, just go to twopeasinabucket.com; select the gallery and search for clipboard. They are great. I saw BeckyinMa's clipboard - just great!
Enjoy!

Default A little explanation please

I looked at the examples :-) I agree with Consuela, my child's teacher would love this....but I have a few questions. Do you paint, stamp and then seal? Do you seal it with acrylic spray??

Thanks!

Beth

I have only made one so far (but there are a lot to follow!!). I used mod podge to adhere the paper (I did cover the back but I don't think it's necessary). Since I covered the entire clipboard, there was no need to paint. However, a lot of the samples are painted first - just with acrylic paint. I also mod podged it when I was finished - I think that most do that as well. I imagine that a spray sealer would work but it might make the clip "sticky" - not sure about that! I think these are so neat - I'm making ones for the teachers for the first day of school! Beth

I haven't tried this yet but wanted to let you know that Walmart has perfect clipboards for this project. Made out of a chipboard-like material & only
costs $1. Saw them in the school supply section!!

I've not seen the traditional, big metal clip clipboards at Walmart - only at the office supply store. Our Walmart only has the ones with the funky metal clip on top. :( So, I get sucked into the office supply store when I need a clipboard *right now*. . . heavy sigh! LOL! Viking does have good deals on the clipboards periodically, though!

Make sure you take pics & upload - I hear we'll have a tutorial soon!

I just finished making a teacher one. The Modge Podge is drying, but I like to way it looks so far. Once I put the ribbons on it, I'll post a picture.

I just couldn't resist making one of these after I saw them. I apologize for the image being dark. I would post it to the gallery, but it's down at the moment.

It was inspired by Jenn. I stamped the bold alpha on the ribbon with red stazon. I attached the beaded pen with velcro. I stamped on cardstock "Mrs Garth", cut it out and Mod Podged it on. I made the stationary out of computer paper.

This was A LOT of fun to make!

Ooooh, Consuelo, Dorinda!!! These are splendiferous!!!!! TFS!!!!

I love makin' those things--totally great gift for anybody!

I got some of the strange clippy ones at Wal Mart, but the ones with the cool bull-dog style clips can only be found at Office Max in my area, as Jenn said . . . They cost a little more, but I got some of those, too, as I like the bull-dog clip look better? What's cool, is they have LITTLE ones, half the size of the standard at Office Max! Too cute!!! Make great photo frames!!

I picked up some clipboards at Staples last night. They were 3 to a pack for $3.29. Single ones were $1.29. The Wal-Mart ones were 97 cents, but I didn't like the spring clip on it.

I'm going to wait for Beate's tutorial to come out before I try to make one.

Default OH these are sooo neat!

I looked at all the pics, they are lovely! I had picked up a clipboard at my local dollar store for a buck too, not really knowing what I was going to do with it, but it was so cheap, I had to get it (I actually thought I was going to use it for workshops, so people could do the ordering on their laps, etc). Now I know what I can do with it!! These seem like they'll make great teacher gifts, but.... here's my dumb question:

How would the recipient use this? If you use any embellishments, you wouldn't be able to use them like normal clipboards as wouldn't the embellishments get in the way? I guess you could use them as photo holders?
Other ideas?

Altered clipboard turned Memo board

I just moved the photo out of the demo'rs only gallery (it'd been in there since Nov 04) and out to the Anything but a Card>Gift Ideas but it may take a bit for it to show up?

Thanks for the great idea! I'm with you, I love beautiful things but would like them to be functional too! Looking forward to meeting you at the 'Frisco' stamping event! (You know locals hate the word Frisco, right???)

Default Here is my "LOVE" Clipboard...

...which I have displayed up in my living/dining area. It's done in the same bluesey color along the main wall and accented with antique-white wrought-iron pieces, antique-white pottery and stoneware, greenery containing subtle whites and dirty whites, etc. It's been a nice addition. I made several for Christmas gifts for neighbors, friends, and family last year. I also made them for sale at craft fairs - $35 seems to be the "magic" price, though I firmly believe that $50 is more appropriate!!! My themes have been angels, Christmas stories, kids, teachers, Dad/Workshop, Mom/Cooking. I'll be adding fairies and princesses to my lineup this year.

Wish the photo was a bit more clear, but for now I'm stuck with a 3.2mp!! If you're interested in the details, it's in my gallery. ~ K

I really want to make one of these soon for part of a teacher's gift. Where can I find the tutorial? If it's not ready, can someone please help me with some how to questions? You paint with acrylics right and then use stazon or craft inks to stamp with? How do you adhere paper and ribbons? Would you use sticky tape to adhere or add modpodge to the area of the clipboard that will have the paper/ribbon, then modpoge over it again to seal? If using modpodge to seal, how long does it dry? Has anyone used something different to seal?

Thanks so much for your help with this! These look fun to make and share!!

If you'll do a "google" that will turn up many places that have tutorials.

Here's one variation of how to do them:

No worries, no offenses taken (just wanted to warn you as you might hear it from others). After all, you are the queen of rubbah!
