paint cans

Can anyone help me with covering the outside of small paint cans. I have found the 8 1/2 x 11 cs is not big enough to go around the can wthout have a couple of seams and found the same thing with the 12 x12 card stock. Just wondering what everyone else is doing to cover the outside of these cans without having a couple of seams. So far the best I could come up with is cutting a piece of 8 1/2 x 11 cs in half and then just seaming it on the sides of the can in about the same spot on each side as if you had handles there.
Would love some ideas on how to do these.

One of the things I use is SU's wrapping paper...you can cut it to size, so you only have 1 seam. You can even brayer color over the paper so you're not always working w/ white. Also, you can cut even strips of 8/12 x 11 or 12 x 12 paper so that you've got 2 seams on the sides...sometimes I cover those seams w/ ribbon/sometimes not. Heavier paper makes the seams more obvious...decorative paper is great because it's nice and lightweight. HTH.

Lisa,
Thanks so much for your reply. I really appreciate it. You were a lot of help.
Thanks!! I was ending up with seems on both side and didn't know if there was a different way I was suppose to be doing this. Was wanting to use the brushed silver cs, but of course with this being thicker cs it is leaving pretty big seams. Might give the festive finery designer paper a try. Thanks again.

Great tip! Never thought of that. Thanks.

Glad to help! I've been making a lot of the smaller ones lately, so I've had lots of practice.;) I should have mentioned, too, that the BG stamps are the perfect size for the smaller cans...you only have to worry about getting them lined up side to side...love the Print Pattern for this. Also have used the small plaidmaker...both for line patterns and plaid patterns. Wide ribbon also gives a good effect, too (either around the middle or at the top and bottom).

I use ribbon to cover the seams and then use the same color ribbon to tie the opener to the handle.
