Omitting part of image on stamp?

I am trying to ink my flowers, minus one of the flowers, from my Happy Moments stamp set to make the card (3 x 6) on pg 5 in the Sale-a-bration catty. Is there a trick to omit the one flower? In the past I have used the markers but in this case I have to use the staz-on black on watercolor paper.

What I do is put a piece of painter's tape (blue tape) on the rubber covering the part I don't want. Ink it all up then remove the tape. Then stamp. I'm sure there is a neater way to do it.

Inking Partial image of stamp

Tim, Thank you so much! I had bought painter tape a long time ago and this is probably what I bought it for but forgot.

ink up w/ markers?

Can't use the markers because I am watercoloring !

I do exactly the same as Tim when I want a partial - use a piece of tape (or a Post It or whatever I can find on my desk at the time!) to block out the bit I don't want while I'm inking up. I know some people ink the whole stamp and wipe off the area they don't want but I find it almost impossible not to have a faint shadow of ink left - much better not to have the ink on there in the first place, I reckon.

Good luck!

Glad it helped. The reason I use painter's tape is that is leaves very little residue on stuff. I keep it handy for temporarily taping drawings and tracing paper.

A remedy!

I have had success in taking a q-tip leaving the necessary cotton, spray a bit of stamp cleaner and rubbing off the unnecessary part. Also, I have taken a round toothpick and twisted some baby wipe around it and rubbed off necessary ink. After, huff on the stamp to revive ink. Hope this helps.
