Odd and Silly Questions from a Newbie :)
 

When you are adding embellishments to the outside of your card that poke through to the inside of the card, how do you hide this? I love the outside of cards I've seen, but I would love to see the insides of some. Do you put a different paper on the inside to hide this?

ALSO

For raised embellishments and items (like the dress template) how do you put this in an envelope to send without ruining?

they aren't silly questions...we all have to start somewhere...
I use inserts in my cards..I cut some stock..I use vellum cover stock from office depot in cream or white..cut it to 8.25 x 5.25 fold in half...I put adhesive only on the top flap and secure to the inside top flap of the card to hide all the doo dads inside...I dont put tape on the bottom flap because the card tends to open funny.,.
for mailing you can add bubble wrap, or sometimes I slip a piece of cardboard or thick card stock over the front of the card, or I take them to the post office to have them hand cancelled.

I use my scoring blade on my trimmer but you can do the same thing with a bone folder and your trimmer groove. if you are just folding your cs in half the bone folder is great.here is a link to a great tutorial where this is used. I love all of Dawns tutorials. hope this helps :)

I usually do the same as craftsrlb and make an insert for my card but you can also make a card front and then stick it to a folded card base once you're done adding embellishments/stitching or whatever is going to show through.

A bone folder is a cheap tool and will really help to get your folds crisp and neat.

Adding my two cents on the bone folder, once you've used one you will never go back. Easy way to get that nice crisp fold. When adding embelishments such as brads I try to layer the cardstock so the back of the brad is hidden. I try not to leave anything show inside the card so I usually do a seperate 5 1/2 X 8 1/2" piece folded in half as the card it'self and a 5 1/2 X 4 1/4" layer on top.

Thank you everyone. I like the idea of working on a sheet and then adhering it to a card. Pretty darn smart. I've put the addition to the inside of the envelope in the past, but I'm going to try it that way.

I can see a run to the craft store LOL. I don't think my trimmer has a scoring blade. I thought it did when I bought it, but it looks like it just came with an extra blade :(.

Sometimes you can buy the scoring blade. I did for my Cricut cutter. I wish I could find the replacement cutting blades though!
