Default Stamping on Candles question

I got a great deal on some nice candles - only $1 each at Michaels - they are lavender scented - anyway I want to do the tissue stamping method of decorating them - but they are lavender, not white. I have some lavender tissue but it doesn't match real well. Any ideas??????????????? All I've ever done before is heat tissue and meld it onto white candles. Any help or ideas will be much appreciated.

You'll be fine using white tissue paper. That's all I ever stamp on, and it didn't show one bit on the colored candles I used -- they were from Mike's, too, and were yellow, pink and blue.

I agree, white tissue paper will work, as it melts into the candle becomes transparent and just the stamped images stay visible.

This may be a dumb question but I have to ask. Can the candles be burned once they have the tissue applied or are they purely decorative?

Don't forget to hold wax paper around your candle after you have applied your stamped tissue paper. This will help seal the candle.

But, as always, the candle should NEVER be left unattended, even for "just a moment" -- especially if you've covered most of the candle with the tissue paper. Melted wax can get very hot, and the papercould ignite. It has happened.

If you check under "Projects" in the Resources section, you'll find a complete tutorial.

Hi ladies! What sort of tissue paper is best for the candle? Anything in particular or just the common tissue paper around the house?

It's in the Resources section -- look up at the top of the page, in the right-hand corner. There are "techniques" and "projects" and then I think the third section is back issues of the Weekly Inkling newsletter. Just scroll down till you see Stamping on Candles. I can never remember which section it's in, but I think it's Projects.
