A Monthly Rubber Stamps Club (AMRSC) has "shattered glass technique" on its website. It's not difficult to figure out -- mostly you just put very thin strips of masking tape crisscrossed over your cardstock before you stamp. Sounds so easy BUT I have not been happy with my own attemps. Even on the AMRSC website, I only like the one on the black background. Anyway, here is a link to the website...

First of all, dakota, welcome to SCS! You will need to budget hours upon hours of your time to really enjoy yourself here so let's get started.

I am a relatively new stamper, but here's my attempt to answer your question:

The "cracked glass" technique that I am familiar with is not the same as the masking tape technique. It is using clear embossing powder, done in about 5-6 layers, then frozen for a couple of minutes before "cracking" the embossed area, making a beautiful effect over your image. Is that what you are referring to? If so, it is using versa mark and clear embossing powder.

I did this at a SU meeting once, and it's really cool.

I do mine with glassy glaze. You stamp and color your image. After that is done, put versamark over the entire image and coat with glassy glaze. Emboss this and while still "wet" add another coat of glassy glaze and emboss again. Follow this for 3 -4 coats of glassy glaze. If needed, coat with versamark in between coats of glassy glaze. Once you are done, place in the freezer for 10 -15 minutes, remove and start "cracking" the EP. To get an antique look after the cracking, I take a stampin' sponge with some diluted basic brown ink and rub over the cracked EP. Afterward, buff with a paper towel. Results are beautiful!
