Need help..FAST!!!
 

Ok...so a co-worker just called me at home and says "Hey Shan..do you have any stamps with a train on it?" Um...what I said? I guess her grandsons b-day is this friday and he loves trains. I don't own a train stamp!! Do any of you WONDERFUL stampers have any advice or perhaps a template or maybe just a plain old miracle would do right now.

Do you have any clip art that you could cut out and then stamp your background with trees, signs etc . . .? It may sound like it wouldn't 'fit' but my Mom did that for my DH's birthday card. She printed a golfer from her computer and put it on some really neat paper that she tore to make it look like grass. It was fantastic! Or, maybe you could use the clip art for a pattern? Hmmm. . .

I know Michael's carries thin wooden shapes in various patterns (I bought a train as a template for loot bags when my son was into Thomas the tank Engine) and are cheap (50 cents I think). Actually, I just thought of something, you could probably attach some of those bits of 'rubber trimmings' on the wood and make yourself a stamp! Hey :shock: , I think I better try this myself. Going along with gigs idea, on page 108 of this years catty there is Little Engine, how about photocopying it and using that. Under copyright laws you are allowed to make one copy without getting into trouble especially if you are not using the whole thing. Use strips of paper cut for the track, etc, etc.

I did find two seperate paper piecings for a train. One is the train engine and the other is a car and the caboose. If you want them let me know and I will email the patterns.

I just bought a great train stamp at Michaels a month ago or so. In fact, I made a card with it that's in my gallery. The card I made with it is more grown-up, but I also atttached it to a card with a Just Jeans background for my nephew and he loved it.

Do you have any shape stamps that you could put together to "build" a train - you know circles for wheels, rectangle for main part, etc.?

A couple months ago, Michaels had a train engine foam stamp which I used for my son's loot bags. I don't know if they still carry it tho'

What about "making" a train. Do you have Simple Shapes? There are squares, circles, rectangles.....other shape type stamp sets may work too!

If you want a simple shape, you could make a stamp out of fun foam, especially the self adhesive type. Pick a SIMPLE train shape and trace onto self adhesive fun foam. Cut it out with exacto knife and adhere it to a piece of foam core as a mount. These stamp best with pigment ink or the new acrylic paint technique that scrappers are using...

My sons are big train fans! There is a retired stamp set called All Aboard and another stamp set with a train in the current catalog. As you are pressed for time, let me suggest a couple of other things. Someone already mentioned the wood cut out at Michaels. Don't forget cookie cutters, coloring books, etc. as places to get templates.
