My #1 Watercolor tip

I know the frustration of trying to watercolor and the inks/pencils/etc. just won't blend.

Here is something that I learned a long time ago and I still do it.

Stamp your image. Spray very lightly with Krylon Matte Spray. (This stuff is not very expensive and available at just about every craft store I have ever been in). It will dry in seconds.

This seals your ink and coats the paper just enough so the inks 'slide" and blend. Use your blender pen, paint brush, aqua painter, whatever. I promise if you try it you will like it and be hooked!

You can also stamp with any dye based ink (i.e. SU classic pads), spray with the Matte Spray, and watercolor. The ink from the pad won't run.
(I've been doing this with Grey and Brown long before S.U. came out with their permanent Brown pad.

Hope this helps someone out there! Watercoloring is my very, very favorite technique to use!

I think your tip sounds like a "winner" to me! Through the years I have used the Krylon spray but mostly for other projects.....not card making. I can't wait to try your wonderful tip!!

I love learning things like this on SCS!

I just think it is so generous of you to share this great tip!

I am SO glad you posted this tip! I never knew that and I have my Krylon sitting right on the shelf. I've always used it when I use chalks and PE. Now I can use it with my watercoloring when I want to stamp in a non waterproof dye based ink!

Excellent!

That makes sense, but I would have never thought of it.
