I used Mod Podge on a box I bought at Archivers. 5 x 7 size will hold cards I made. I only did one layer under and over the paper on Sunday. Today is Tuesday and I had put the lid on the box yesterday. It was a little stuck. It appears the edges are staying sticky. How long until I am comfortable in closing the box so it will open again without tearing the paper? And do you usually do more than one coat? How about spraying it with a clear coat?
Any help is appreciated.

Hello. Well, I use Mod Podge on my clipboards and only use one coat. I would suggest, if you can, and it is warm and dry outside, to let it sit out in the sun for just a bit. I did that when I needed to speed drying a long somewhat one day. It worked great, just don't leave it out forever, or if it's raining... ha ha. Maybe you got it on too thick in places. I don't use a brush. I use a foam spreader thing, not sure of the official name. It doesn't leave brush marks and works great... cleans up in a flash. As far as a spray, I have heard of people using an acrylic spray on top, but I don't. You could try to search (here) some altered itmes and see what they are using. Hope I helped some!
Depending on how thick a layer you've put on, what the base is and how humid it is where you are, it can take several days for it to dry completely. When I do cigar boxes (wooden) I leave them open for at least 3 or 4 days to make sure they're really dry. I usually do 2 coats on top as a sealer. HTH!
I can't remember if I got this tip from this website, or from a design show on HGTV, but someone said that they don't use ModPodge on top of the paper anymore because of the stickiness. Instead, they use 2-3 coats of a polyurethane sealer. This is how I plan to go from now on because the ModPodge ends up being pricey, and the stickiness doesn't go away.
Mod Podge stays tacky forever if you do not seal it with a clear sealer. If you don't want to use a spray sealer use Royal Coat or Alene's brand of decopauge glue. They do not have to be sealed. I do not use Mod Podge for this reason.
I too have found the mod podge is sticky and it wrinkled my paper cause I didnt get it smoothed out good enough...I have started using a clear coat spray.
WOW so much I wish I'd read before I started with Mod Podge! Mine doesn't seem to be horribly tacky, though, on my altered clipboards so I think I'm ok for now....we shall see!

I bought this spray at Joann that is used to seal any surface, even silk, fresh or dried flowers, ceramic, wood... After I purchased it I read the instructions and the label says it is highly toxic and can cause "reproductive harm" that is... pregnancy or birth problems and so on... Has anyone found another option for acrylic sealer that is NOT that toxic?
I am not happy with mod podge either so I plan to use acrylic sealer. I just have to many problems with air bubbles even if I use a very thin coat. It isn't very good for anything but gluing down paper.

I haven't looked but maybe try Krylon. I will be looking tomorrow. You can also spray outside. As long as you aren't breathing it in directly, I think there is little to fear.

Are you talking about the foam brush? I have tried using a foam brush before and it still left marks as if I used a brush. I'd sure like to know exactly what you use so I can go get me one.
