Smile Heated Ribbon

Anybody know this technique? Can it possibly be a simple at it seems?(like, just heat organdy ribbon til it crinkles?!) I found a reference to it in the gallery but can't find anything when I search. Thanks.

That's it, just be careful not to overdo it or it will scorch!

Another thing you can do with organdy ribbon is sew a basting stitch down the middle, then gather so it is all puckered. Then, drop it in a pot of boiling water. Remove it and take out the stitching, and the ribbon will stay bunchy and crinkly.

Cool idea for sure! I did something similar with SU! stitched ribbon.. I pulled the stitching and gathered it.. then sprayed it with spray starch (oh yeah, I still use the stuff~ uniforms, ya know?)... let it dry and voila! Haven't used it on a card or anything yet, but it sure looks cool!

Peace!

I have taken gros grain ribbon, cut off one salvage edge, and frayed it. You can use it as multiple strings and the left over as eyelash fiber. Then I played with the multiple strings and "fuzzed" it and that was pretty cool.

You gals are amazing with the things you come up with in the name of our hobby. I can't imagine being the pioneer who said, let me do this stitch and then boil my ribbon and see how it comes out. I am definitely a follower. Thanks for being so willing to share.

The coolest part of this whole string is that to come up with a lot of the stamping ideas makes one wonder how they did it! Shaving Cream? Sandpaper?
Boiling Ribbon? This is indeed one cool site!
