misting before embossing
I have read about misting card stock before embossing with the big shot. what do others think of this. Would like some advice.

Are you talking with water to make a better impression or actual color mist? Either works btw. Just remember to let it dry well before you stamp.

If you're struggling to get a decent impression then misting with water can help to soften the fibres of the paper. In general though it's not necessary and takes the speed out of dry embossing (which is one of the attractions as far as I'm concerned!).

I've misted with rubbing alcohol or the same mixed with glimmer paint-you get the dampening without the long wait to dry, but you have to move quickly once you've spritzed.

I've often read that when using the sizzix texture plates (not the same as embossing folders), a good impression is achieved after misting with water/alcohol prior to running them thru. I have tried it, and it's certainly true. I can't imagine that embossing folders would be any better with this method, because the folder style does create an excellent impression in my experience!

I've heard misting can help when your embossing a thicker cardstock.

I've never wanted to get any of the texture plates because the look didn't appeal to me. |
I have misted before and have fallen out of the habit because the texture plates and the embossing folders both work so well in the Grand Caliber. It does help with the impression. I must admit I have a ton of the Sizzix and Fiskar plates and I use them a lot more than I do the embossing folders. I use them all the time to emboss my envelopes. It's not as deep an emboss as with the folders so it's easy to write on. Don't forget you can letter press with the plates too...rub the ink over the plate and then put your cardstock or paper on it and roll it through your machine. It's so pretty.

I believe it also is supposed to help prevent the paper from cracking.

When what was opened?

Yes- what does the trojan horse message mean? and what can we do about it?

Hmmm, as that's joyce-ap's first and only post my guess is it's not for real and you shouldn't worry. I'll report the post in case it's a hi-jacked account.
