Question Cutting for today's pop-up accordian card

I just tried making the pop-up accordion card from today's tutorial. It is not stated where you exactly cut on the 3 lg. circles for the 'stand'. How longis the cut? What is an easy way to center the cut? My images were not even and when I fold they don't fold well. Any more helpful hints would help.
THanks so much!
Charlotte

I am not someone who could give you any help, but since someone will look here and answer the questions, I just thought I would post a problem with the card too. Thanks for letting me butt in.

I tried the card and posted it. I had to trim my circles to match once I folded them. But what concerned me was that I can not close the card--it is so thick. Did I do something wrong?????
Help please.

Hello stampers!! I am so sorry for not seeing this sooner, I have not had much time to be online as my little ones are sick and I think I am catching it :???: .

In answer to your questions.... to determine the size of the slits on the large circles I would recommend that you measure your white half ovals to determine how tall they are. You want your slits to be just shorter than they are. For example.... if your half ovals are 2" than you would want your slits to about 1 3/4" from the center fold. You do not want your slits showing when the card is opened but you also want them to support the pop up pieces as well. Also, the slits are about 1/2" in width. If you find cutting them with the 12x12 is harder, try the hobby blade or perfect layers. I hope this helps. If you have anymore questions please let me know, I will try to keep an eye out for more questions. You can always email me at [email protected]

Happy Stamping.... I would love to see your project when you are done.

This is a common problem for the accordian card. Some tips to keep it as thin as possible... Use the bone folder to crease all of your folds. When working with the slits on the large circles, work the fold by folding it to the back of the card (inside out if that make any sense) to warm the fold up, then fold to the front as it shows in the tutorial. The folds will usually lay flat if you do this with the large circles as well. You only need to do this step once... over folding in the wrong direction can weaken the cardstock.

I also added ribbon and tied it around to keep ithe card closed. I hope this helps!
