Default Help with Crayon Resist. I'm following the instructions BUT

I'm following the tutorial and have searched several threads on this subject, but when I use the glossy paper and try to use the daubers or the sponge to put on ink from my ink pads, the ink just beads up and is so light. I sponge more, but it never gets darker and looks really ugly all beaded up like that. I tried it on ultrasmooth and it looks great except it doesn't have the nice shine and the colors don't pop out at you like they do on the glossy.

So is there something I'm doing wrong? I'm sure a brayer would work, but I wanted the flowers and leaves to be different colors... let me know if you have any insight!

Thanks!
Joella

I've used the ultrasmooth and sponge daubers with great result...dab a bit, then smear over the crayon to get the ink off.

I don't know why it's not working for you. Are you using SU glossy?
I always use a sponge to apply my ink rather than a dauber. I don't think that should make any difference, but that's the only thing that I do differently than what you described. :? Hopefully someone else has some ideas...

What colors are you using?

Maybe your ink pads need to be refilled?

The ink pads are brand new and since they work really well on the US I don't think they're dry. I was out of SU glossy and just got some, but this other I got at Paper Zone looks identical. I'll try it though I don't have a lot of faith it'll work. The ink just beads up like rain drops on a just sealed deck.

Are you swirling it on or just dabbing it?

I've tried both swirling and daubing on my test sheet. And then it just beads up again... I've tried both the SU sponges and the SU daubers. I think I may just stick to doing crayon resist on Ultrasmooth... it works so well... I must just be glossy impaired!

I believe it's the glossy you are using! Many glossy cardstocks have coatings that are not made to use dye inks on them!

After you get some SU glossy - try it again and see if it changes your results. I think the crayon resists looks wonderful on the glossy!

Okay now I'm really embarrassed! I just tried it with SU glossy and it works like a charm! I only had this other stuff since I was desperate... but since it looked and felt the same as SU glossy I thought I could just use the rest of it before I broke into my new package of SU glossy... I should know better!

Thanks for all your help!
