Masculine Sets

I am new to the stampin' thing and I so far have Flower Factory and Lexicon of Love and was wondering if anyone had any advice to give me on a more masculine set I could purchase.

I love to send cards to my boyfriend and I think he is sick of the 'cherish' card (from L of L) and I have done about as much as I can do with the vine-type things from FF. ANY IDEAS!?!

Hello Kath and welcome aboard! You can get some great cards out of the Lovely as a Tree (and its half price this month) any of the sets with leaves can be made into great masculine cards.you could also try Changing Seasons.

You might want to go to the gallery and put in masculine cards and see what sets/cards you like.

I use Close to Nature a lot. In the Wild would be a good one (its on my want list). Lovely as a Tree (on sale now).

Coast to Coast, Set Sail, Thinking of Father, and Summer by the Sea these are the sets I use to make manly cards. Hope this helps.

OOOHHH almost forgot, Lovely as a Tree and Stipple Shells work also.

I use Lovely as a Tree and Fantastic Foliage A LOT along with Coast to Coast. There are a lot of masculine sets in the Vintage and Nature sections of the SU! catalog that would be good. Pick your favorite.

manly sets

I just purchased Angler, but haven't had a chance to play with it yet.
Schooner is a really great masculine set too!

I love In The Wild for masculine sets, and it's so versatile that it's not JUST for masculine sets!!!

Don't forget the noble deer set! It is a favourite set our group uses for male cards on any occasion. It makes beautiful christmas cards as well!

For masculine cards, I have used In the Wild and Espress Yourself. I've also used Autumn and the leaf from Botanicals -- that's a great all-purpose set. We made a cute card at my stamp camp with the chairs from Simply Sweet, it's in my gallery. HTH.

Hi Kath,

There were a lot of great suggestions in another recent topic under "general discussions" that you might want to check out. Here's the link:

I like Beautiful Batik, especially if you stick to a monochromatic scheme. It reminds me of the patterns on swim trunks. The men in my life are not outdoorsy or into the sports SU has sets for, so something generic like this works best for me.

I like the musical instrument set- all jazzed up? and stippled shells for men.

stampcrazygirl 03-26-2005 03:16 AM

I use Classic Convertibles quite a bit (the men in my family are car crazy). I've thought of more creative ways to use that set than any other that I have! I like to use the detail black embossing powder for the cars and color them in! Or silver emboss them on black CS. If you have the metallic pencils you can color them in with them on dark CS. Use silver brads and eyelets along with some hemp and a silver tag and it looks really masculine.

Fantastic foliage and Lovely as a tree are good too (getting Lovely as a Tree next week!).

I vote for Yukon. The gallery has some very good examples as does the SU catalog. I have also used Lovely as a Tree and Fantastic Foliage.

Classic convertibles and Coast to Coast are my favorites!

Little Biased but

I come from a fireman's family so I'm a little biased but the fire brigade. Also like classic convertables!
