Default Big cardboard tube ideas - help

I have these great 24" & 30" heavy cardboard tubes just like wrapping paper and paper towel tubes only they are 3" diameter. I'm looking for ideas. How would you use these, what projects would you make with tubes like this?
I could cut them down to marker length and lay them on their sides for marker storage after embellishing of course.
or short and use as desktop organizers
or cut 11/2" - 3" deep and make christmas shadowbox ornaments
or hang them from cord from the ceiling or wall to drape specialty papers or gift wrap over
or what else????????????
Thanx for reading.

What about making ribbon spools? I buy ribbon by the yard at Hobby Lobby and they just throw it in a bag. If you have a similar situation it could help!

If you cut them into lengths of about 2-1/2 or 3 inches and then decorate you could use them to display Christmas ball-type ornaments or anything round that would nest in them.

Also, if you cut them a little taller, but not quite as long as a pair of glasses, you could put a square base on them, line them with felt and decorate the outside for a bedside eyeglass caddy, or now that I'm thinking of it, something shorter for a cell phone. ~lorraine
